Wireless at BWV?

I know they put wireless in some of the resorts but wasn't sure if it was done it all of them at this point. Going to BWV after Christmas and wondering of they had wireless in the rooms.

We had wifi at BWV in Oct.

Yes, BWV has WiFi. All the Deluxe (including DVC) Resorts now have WiFi.

From the member website:

Disney Vacation Club® Resorts add Wi-Fi

Guest rooms at select Walt Disney World® Resort hotels, including all Disney Vacation Club Villas, now offer wireless Internet access for Members and Guests at no additional cost.

Wireless access previously debuted at Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort and Disney's Vero Beach Resort. That service continues to be available to Members at no additional cost.

At BWV now and have some internet issues. Worked with support this morning and they mentioned that incorrect IP addresses are being assigned by their equipment.

The wireless modems are using a coax backbone and are located in some of the Guest rooms. If they need to do a reset because one user is having problems, all users served by that modem are disconnected and it seems to happen often.

that begs the next question - is the eathernet cable still available? and would it matter (ie same coax problem? dh kindle chuckled when I read your post to him!)

Currently the hard wired service is being maintained by the old vendor and they have slowed the speed down to two tin cans on a string.

The WiFi is a new vendor and they have been told that Disney is leaving the hard wired connection as a back up.

The current killer per the new vendor is Guests using the WiFi to do computer backups.

Also "R" rated websites are restricted. I tried to check TMZ and it is rated "R".

We were at BWV in November and the wireless connections kept dropping here and there. At one point, my laptop was connected and my niece's wasn't. Then it was vice versa. It's not a connection that can be counted on for something important.

ok, TMZ rated R - and restricted by Disney - that made me LOL (I have the TMZ "app" on my iphone -

I read on the Theme board here that the wired service is indeed being "phased" out...
