Wireless at BLT was terrible

I just got back from staying at BLT. Everything was great except the wireless in the room was pretty terrible. It would allow me to connect, and then after about 5-10 minutes (sometimes as long as 30 minutes) it would no longer be able to access the internet. The only solution I could figure out was to disconnect and immediately reconnect, which got me back on the internet and began the cycle again.

Did anyone else have this trouble? I noticed on my checkout day that the name of the wireless network that I connected to had changed, so maybe they did something to fix it.

In the theme parks, wireless was so spotty that I just shut it off on my iPhone and used the cell network, which worked OK (it was slow every now and then).
 
I'm here just about to finish a split stay at YC/BWI. The wireless is so awful that I have just given up.
 

The wifi seemed to work pretty good at Poly when we were there in Sept but it took forever to load at MK. I'm guessing because of the amount of people using it.

We were at VWL in Sept. My connection on my ipad was great! I think it only dropped the connection once. DH, on the other hand, couldn't get his connection to last more than a few minutes. Up down, up down, up down... It was driving him batty! He was convinced there must have been a difference in our ipad settings somewhere, but he couldn't be bothered mucking about to find it.
 
I haven't had any problems at BLT all week long. I'm on right now and it seems steady and fast enough for me.
 
2 months ago at POR the wifi was similarly bad in the room. I quickly stopped bothering with it and relied on 3G.
 
I had the same issue at AoA. Unfortunately, I had to do some work while on vacation so I needed to be able to use my laptop. I ended up calling for tech help. The number was on the phone. After speaking with someone and providing my IP address, she told me to wait 45 minutes and to connect. I was told that the internet would work on all my devices. I didn't have a problem for the rest of my trip after that. So, I would suggest calling if you are having any trouble. I agree, the connection at MK was awful.
 
We had awful wifi at BLT last June. We had to restart our laptop constantly to stay connected. Maybe it varies as to how close you are to BLT's router (or where ever the wifi signal comes from)? On this trip at BLT, we were on the 10th floor, almost at the end of the hall by the Contemporary.

We just spent a week at BWV and had perfect internet service. I have read multiple threads lately about how bad the wifi is at BWV. We were close to the lobby, so maybe our signal was stronger?

Whatever the reason, I just wish Disney would give you the option of using the wired internet connection if you wished, or if you needed it.
 
I had the same problem during our stay the first week of Sept. The wireless hardly worked at all in one of our rooms (we stayed in a 2 bedroom) but it worked a little better in the other room, but still not great.
 
I think in general the wifi at disney resorts SUCKS big time. At CSR about a month ago, I think i was successful logging onto the net TWICE during my whole ENTIRE trip. TWICE. I was so ticked. You have no idea. Now that i think about it, i was at Movies in the beginning of the trip and go figure, the wifi was MUCH better there! Lol. Maybe staying at values is the way to go? :lmao:

(For the record, i love the value resorts. So im totally not bashing them. Just thought it would be funny to mention on a BLT thread. Yes i have twisted humor. :upsidedow :rolleyes1)
 
Just back room BLT 1 BR Room 7404. WiFi was good. Wife's MacBook worked in all locations except the pool area. Our iPhones were fine except occasional connection issues when on the pot.

We loved having WiFi in the parks. What a great treat to be able to Google a Disney Factoid and solve an argument. I was usually right! :teacher:
 
I found the service was ok mid-day and late night but terrible early morning and early evening. I figured it had to do with demand.

I agree, the wifi in the parks and restaurants was fantastic! I took full advantage!

We were at BLT 2 weeks ago and I thought the wifi was terrible as well. We constantly got kicked off in the room ( but didn't use it in the rest of the resort). We also got kicked off all the time in the parks...if I switched to 3G I usually was ok. I have an unlimited data plan so it doesn't matter for me, but DH was pretty ticked.

ETA: When we got back I got one of the Disney Surveys about BLT and a large chunk of the survey was about the Wifi. I thought that was interesting.
 
Now I feel bad that I've started this thread that has ended up bashing the wifi at WDW (although what did I expect after my first post :lmao:).

In fairness I should say that it could have been because of my laptop. It wasn't an issue of signal strength, but rather that the network wasn't letting me connect to the internet ("local only").

Maybe it's me, but for some reason I find that wireless access in hotels to almost always be terrible, not just at Disney. I don't know why; maybe there is something inherently difficult about providing wireless throughout a hotel. Or maybe all hotels use cheap providers.
 
Today is the last day of a split stay. First half at OKW where the wifi was horrible. Would connect then drop. I did a repair and reconnected and stayed connected for only a few minutes then had to do the same thing all over again. Tried with various devices...laptop with XP Pro, IPAD, Ihone, Mac Book. Now at SSR where the connection is GREAT! It's actually better than at home!
