Poly is my dream vacation spot.

I wish you were going the week before or the week after you are going, I could get you a super great deal at the Poly!!!

Or December!

Too bad August doesn't work for us this year. But, I will definitely keep that in mind in the future

We will hopefully continued to offer it every year!!

Huggie----- no time like the present!! That is seriously a great deal Shelly's agency is offering. We have a wedding to go to in Sept (late) so we can't take advantage, but you'll never see it any cheaper.

The last picture of you and DS14…. he looks JUST like your DH!!!!! Holy cow!! I've always thought he favored him but the older he gets the more I see it. Wow. He's so big now.



That's such a shame your first FP didn't work out for you. I wonder if it's best to not schedule them back to back in case something like that happens? I haven't done it yet so IDK, but there has to be something the CMs could do if it happened.

AK is funny-- it can look deserted in one section of the park and slammed in another. It's quickly becoming one of my favorites. I think you just need to go when we go to appreciate it.

As far as the whole Primeval whirl thing- or was it triceratops spin? anyway----- gag. If it wasn't Primeval Hurl it should have been with Nasty Ned N Nancy slopping it up for you.

I know!! Check out his shirt. I just bought it in August at Clearwater and it's already too small for him!!

I think you are right and I got the ride names mixed up!! See, it is pretty obvious AK is my least fav park!

Either way, it was gross, the people in front of us were gross, and the woman behind me needs to learn to not get in other people's space!!

Jodi you crack me up!!! Shelly, he does look just like his DADDY!! That's crazy!! We just need to let him grow a little beard and they would be clones! I hate that you got stuck behind the make-out couple and in front of the lady with space issues. That totally makes me mad!!! I love backpacks for that reason~ at least you don't have them on your skin when they are in your space like that…Wonder what the perfect line is when that happens? Jodi…think of something good for us to say!!!

We had some time to kill before our last FP+, so DS talked me into Primeval Hurl. I had never rode it before, I don’t really like spinny. But I didn’t want to be a party pooper. The wait time said 20 minutes so we got in line. A few minutes after getting in line, they make an announcement – due to technical issues, one side of the ride has been closed and your wait time might be longer than expected. I told DS – it’s going to be twice as long!! He really wanted to ride, so we stayed. It ended up being one of the most painful waits ever. The couple in front of us was making out the whole time. As in I said to DS once – if I see his tongue one more time I am going to rip it out of his head!!! And there was a party of 5 behind us. The one lady insisted on being in my space. As in right up against my back. With each step I took, so did she. I was about to scream!!! When we got up to the front the CM asked if there were 3 in our party. Yeah, he thought she was with us!!! And, to top it all off – we ended up having to ride with her.

Oh boy do I feel your pain! And you know I mean it when I say that! I do hate it when someone stands too close to me in line. I'm already claustrophobic so I NEED my space. I try to be patient about such things when I'm in a crowd, but when I start to feel another person's sweaty skin on me, that's when the gloves come off! Poor thing... I can't believe you had to ride with her too! I wish you had a picture! And as for tongue boy.... well, now there's more than one reason we can call it Primeval Hurl!

That really stinks about the FP issue with the safari. It sounds like they still have some things that need tweaking with the FP+ system.

Too bad you didn't get to use your first fastpass+, but if I had to give one up it would be the safari! Your ds picture on EE is so funny and just what I would expect from a teenage boy. I wish my boys loved Dinosaur, when they were little I had to bribe them with those stupid rubber dinosaurs in the store. I think we ended up with all of them at some point! So rude of those people in line!

It was a fun afternoon at AK!

I do have a short update on what the rest of the family was up to - but not a lot of pics! I guess I am happy that he at least took some.

Yeah, it wasn't the end of the world to miss the safari. I wish we could have gotten there a bit earlier though. When planning months in advance I never thought it would take so long. Just little things here and there added on extra time all day.

Yep, that's my teenager!! Don't worry, I got him back later!!

Primeval Hurl wasn't too awful. I was surprised it didn't spin more. And glad!!

I know, DS14 is growing like a bad weed!!

That's shame about not being able to ride the Safari, but at least you got to ride EE. That would have been my priority too!

Gross making-out couple and touchy-feely lady would have put me right off waiting in that line, and yes, I thought the ride would have more spins too. Not sure I'd be in a hurry to ride it again next trip.

Dinosaur is pretty good though, but a good bra is a must for me on that ride lol

If I had to choose I would definitely choose EE.
We like few things at AK. Only a half day park for us too.

What a bummer about missing your first FP+ reservation for the safari. That's one of our favorites at AK. I think you made a wise choice to skip it and head to EE. We really like that ride, too.

Blah about make out couple and space-invading lady. What is wrong with people?!?!?

I'm glad the busses seem to be working in your favor (especially after the let down of your room and view at WL).

OOOH I have heard of the dreaded FP line for Safari being quite bad lately. That's nuts. Sorry that you guys had to miss one of your fastpasses. If they are going to limit people to only 3 per day they should really make it easier for people IMO.

Primeval Hurl..... You and my DH seem to be the same with twirly rides. This was the first year that he was finally able to be talked into getting on this ride and he loved it! Glad to see that you did not absolutely hate it lol

This seriously made me snort with laughter. Oh my goodness you poor dear! Personal space people! I have a bubble. I get upset when people get in it without permission. Drives me crazy. Maybe you should have passed gas or something and then she would have backed up a bit Just kidding that would be crud

We encountered one long fp+ line on our trip. It was for BTMRR and there must have been fifty people in line when we walked up. But it was mostly comprised of confused people who didn't understand that they needed to have a reserved fp+ in order to go in the fp lane. Once they weeded out those people, the fp line was really short. Most of our fp+ lines were very short. It seemed like later in the day or evening had the shortest fp+ return lines.

We found that if you miss a fp+ time you can still make another fp+ for that day. You don't lose the chance to have 3 fp+'s per day. The most popular rides might not be available, but lots of other ones are open.

WHAT??? You don't like the Poly???

I've noticed so often that a bad experience will just turn a person off from a resort - sometimes forever. The last time we stayed at the Poly was in Jan 2002. My sister and I were running the half-marathon and we had a race package that put us at the Poly. We were in Tahiti with a theme park view, which I know is considered great. Well, we loved the fact it was so close to the TTC that we almost never had to go to the GH to get on the monorail. But, unfortunately, we hit a very cold and rainy period. There was frost a few mornings and walking to the GH and back for a hot cup of coffee early in the morning was just torture. It seemed to take forever in the cold rain. And our room, although huge, was terrible in need of a refurb. I know if it had been nice and warm, I wouldn't have minded so much. But the separate buildings and dark woods are not appealing to me.

We also had a bad room location at BWI and another freezing cold trip and we aren't planning any more trips there.

I'm not sure what was happening that day. They really needed a CM there directing traffic. I have to wonder if some of those people might have thought they were in the stand-by line. Both lines were HUGE!!
