Well I guess mother nature has decided that it's finally time for Chicago to have winter. These were taken from my balcony:

Funny you just posted that - I *JUST* stepped outside to eye the cotton-ball sized flakes, falling from the sky.

:cold:

CathrynRose,

I was watching a movie and it was just wet outside from the rain and when it was over that is what I saw.

I swear my vacation can't get here fast enough.

That storm is expected here on Tuesday, but it will still be too warm (forecasted 41) for January and will be rain.

I hope we see some snow this year. Yesterday was so warm that my son had on shorts. It felt like spring. :goodvibes Today, I'm going to clean out my flower beds.

Keep sending those pictures!

Lori

60 here today in S. Jersey! Hard to believe it is the middle of January!

It is going to warm up again this week in Chicago. I want to say it will be 39 today and 46 tomorrow. I might not take out that shovel just yet. My dh has a broken leg so I don't want him to do it and I am at work now. We have plans to see the Harlem globtrotters tonight so hopefully the snow will melt on its own since I won't be able to do it until tomorrow night.

Sunday it's suppose to be 41 before going back into the 20's and 30's early next week so some of what we have will melt then. It's already melting off the trees.

We got about 9" here in Gurnee. Going to take a lot of warm days to melt this away. Spring can't get here soon enough for me.

We're about 3 hours straight west of Chicago and it was a beautiful heavy snow last night. Today it's melting quite a bit. So far our winter has been very mild so it's ok to get something that reminds us of what normal is. Not so good last night was the fact that DD had a basketball game in Galena, IL and what normally took us 60 minutes took us over 2 hours--several autos slid off the road and semis that couldn't make it up the steep hills in extreme northwestern IL. We won the game so the ride was worth it. :cool1: :yay: :wave2: :rolleyes1

We didn't get much snow either. When I got home from work the driveway and sidwalks were clear of snow.

:thumbsup2 anyone recall last year's snowstorm on this date????we were driving from Peoria to Tinley Park for skating competition ---it was a white knuckle ride all the way there..........snow up to your knee's !!! this year we skipped the Homewood-Flossmoor competition!! dh just left for work and it was all frosted over and cold..... :hippie:

Keep it there-we had an inch Tuesday night and schools were out on Wednesday--then 2 days of highs in the 60s. No wonder everyone's sick.

We had enough in NW Indiana to build a snowman

but not so much that it was unbearable.

This really is a beautiful snow even if I can't wait for it to go away. It's nice for my son. He's been snowboarding at Four Lakes this weekend and I'm getting ready to take him over there again in a few minutes.
