Just a reminder that if you are taking a cruise during the winter to allow plenty of time to make it to Orlando.

I flew to Charlotte yesterday for my son's graduation from college. They were predicting bad weather for Sat. and Sun.

We decided to try to fly back today. There were long lines for the planes to be deiced. When it was our turn the deicing truck hit the right engine causing damage. We had to return to the gate, they found another plane, boarded us about 45 mins later.

Then we had to deice that plane, waiting over an hour. Lots of folks on the plane were worried they were going to miss the shuttle and the ship.

So keep that in mind when you are booking flights. It feels so good to be home but sorry I had to cut my trip short.

safetymom, thanks for posting. I was planning on flying down for my cruise the morning of the cruise, but decided to go the night before, just in case, since it'll be in December. I'm an optimist to a fault, knowing that nothing is doing to happen to delay us, but your advice is good advice. So we'll be flying down the night before. I'd rather spend an extra $150 for a hotel room before the cruise than take a chance of missing it. Especially since I don't have trip insurance, but that's another story!

I'm in the process of planning a cruise. Living in Michigan, I wouldn't even consider flying down the morning of the cruise. The risk of foul weather, mechanical problems, etc. would make me a nervous wreck. We usually fly down a day early in seasons other than winter. Two days early in winter. We don't care when we come back home. :cool1:
