Winter Breaks These Days

I am planning a trip in Dec 2019 where one of the travelers is my niece who has never been to WDW. She will be in her first semester at College that Fall. I looked at the academic calendars for the colleges she is looking at and they seem to follow the same winter break plan.

2019 Example
Monday Dec 2 2019 - Back to class
Dec 2 ~ 13 - Finals
Friday Dec 13 2019 - Last day before college is on winter break.

Is this a typical college schedule?

I don't really want to come Sun Dec 15th and leave Sat Dec 21st. I think the crowds are going to be huge that week with Star Wars land having hopefully opened by then.

My kids know kids who weren't home until closer to the 18th or 19th of December this year. I think it really varies.
