Winner for best pool is???

OK, I will be a dissenter on the BCV pool as well. We are at our first stay here and heard all the great things about SAB and were looking forward to going to it. Yes, it is very big and very well theme'd. Definitely an experience, but it is not something we were blown away by. As mentioned, the slide entrance is very inconvenient (but a good big slide), the kids little slide is not with the main pool, so there is only a small wading pool that it is in. While the kids were sliding didn't get to relax in the pool or on lounge chairs. It was sit on the edge of the pool or on a couple of benches. The place is constantly crowded with no chairs available....not sure if it is the infamous towels reserving chairs while people are in their room/eating/wandering around......a plus is that the pool is big enough you can find some secluded parts with few people to have to yourself, but for this might as well be at the quiet pools.

Really, it is what you want with recreation stuff. I like SSR and the vicinity to DTD. BCV and BWV have similar set up with lots of restaurants, but not as much with shopping/Disney Quest/movie theatre that is offered at DTD.

SAB by far for us, kids are older though so we all like the 8 foot deep area to actually tread water for a change. Also the beach to sit (below) and plenty of chairs and watch the BW and boats-then pop up the slide (great slide and nice to see EPCOT in the background) to cool off. Sand bottom is a nice change as well.

This picture shows why we LOVE SAB. It's not a "pool." It's a swimming complex with lots of variety. I'm hoping the pool at the new Aulani might turn out to be comparable!

Ok....we are one of those families that prefer OKW or SSR pools. :thumbsup2 I guess they are quieter or at least easier to have everyone together and relaxed. The quiet pools at both are great....even the kids love them! We even love the quiet pool at VWL! :woohoo: But a pool is a personal choice...but SAB is just too crowded for me most of the time!

I can't believe someone is sitting at the edge of the water in this photo. And a child is playing in the sand right at the water's edge.

The bad thing about this beach area is that if you are hot, you have to leave your chair and walk across the sidewalk to get back to the pool.

No -that's the good thing about this beach. I am taking this pic from the slide-steps from our chairs below, hop in the slide and just like that-your in the pool. :thumbsup2 Course we like using the slide so we would be using it anyway-our chairs just end up in the path. Also it is soo much more peacefull out at the beach-we would make the walk back anyway. Also the chairs on the other side of the slide are very close to the other entance to SAB-very short walk. You can see those in the other pic above.

As a previous poster said, with the exception of the pools at BCV, BLT or AKL, you can pool hop. Therefore, the choice may lie within those three resorts. I haven't stayed at BLT or CR, but have stayed at both BCV and AKL. Both pools were very nice. I did enjoy SAB more, and the nightlife in the Boardwalk area and walking-distance mini-golf are pluses. The gym also seems very nice. There are also a couple of quiet pools available and the Boardwalk pools within walking distance. On the other hand, you could have concierge service at Jambo house and if you like animal watching, AKL is the place to be. There are also movies on the beach at Beach Club. I don't know if AKL has something similar. If you stay at BLT, the pools and resorts on the monorail are easy access.

Good luck with your decision!

Check out my screen name - need I say more?

One thing that no one has pointed out yet is that SAB is gorgeous at night! If you're planning on going during a crowded time, do your park first and then do dinner at Beaches & Cream and swim till dark. Its so neat!

My family's 2nd choice for pool at DVC is the VWL quiet pool with the bubbles - small but really relaxing.
