We are starting to go wine tasting pretty regularly. We live in a great area for tastings.
We went last Saturday actually, came home with a LOT of wine. Even a Merlot that was really good and had the Cab not been $55 a bottle I would have that too.

We just started drinking wine not too long ago, DBF's parents ARE wine snobs (complete with a wine cellar in the house LOL) but we just like what we like. We don't try to pair certain wines with certain foods, we just like what we like.

We really like Beringer White Zinfindel, it's very good and fruity. And it's like $5 a bottle!

We also really like a couple that are harder to find, you actually have to buy them from the wineries directly, they don't distribute to stores. Peju Provence which is a blend of 52% white and 48% red, it's very good and just over $20 a bottle.

My absolute favorite is V Sattui's Gamay rouge, also a blend and sooooooooooooo good.....both of those are amazing with pastas. But start with something like Arbor Mist or a White Zin then grow from there. Reislings are very good, we have 3 or 4 of those right now...oh and Muscato/Muscat, these are extremely sweet dessert wines, very good.
