Wine Package and B2B

I know it's a bit far out to be planning, but we'll be on B2B 7n Caribbean cruises in the summer of 2013 and I'm already too excited not to start thinking about it! :rotfl:

In the past we've done the bring-your-own wine (when we drove) and a wine package (when we flew) and both worked well for us to limit the amount we spent on alcohol for the cruise. I like the 7n wine package - we got this on a 14n cruise and it worked out great!

So I was wondering... Has anyone gotten a wine package on the first leg of a B2B cruise and used it on the second leg? I know that they give you any unused bottles at the end of the cruise - would they charge you a corkage fee if you brought one back to the dining room on the next cruise leg?

Thanks!

I would talk to your servers on the first leg of you B2B. We had the same servers for both of our B2B cruises. You may even want to talk to the head server as he/she is the one who will make the arrangements for your seating. Our HS came to us on the last night of our first leg and asked us what we wanted/didn't want, etc. He was amazing at meeting our needs. He was the best Head Server we have ever had. He even brought us a gift at our very last dinner.

Alexander - Thanks! We'll be sure to bring it up to the head waiter and our serving staff. One of our best experiences was on our other B2B cruise, and we had the same experience with our dining staff that you did. Our head server was awesome - well worth his tip and more! He helped out with service on at least one night on the first leg, and made sure we were well taken care of on the second leg.

We've always had such great service in the dining rooms that I doubt it will be an issue - I was just curious if anyone had ever done it! If worse comes to worse, we'll just keep the wine in our room and pour a glass before heading to the MDR. :thumbsup2

Would anyone have updated info on this ?
We are doing B2B 4&3 night but wanted to purchase 7night wine package -what would happen with remaining wine on second cruise ?

It's my understanding that you must use the package on the cruise it's purchased on. Now, if you purchase a 7 night package and only drink 5 bottles, they will give you the two additional bottles, and they could become your wine that you're bringing onboard for the second leg.

If you have more than 2 bottles left, you'd have to let them hold any bottles over 2 and you can collect them at the end of the second leg.

Why would they hold the wine if you have more than 2 bottles left? I thought if you had any unused wine you could just take the bottles back to your room. Couldn't y odo that and just leave them in your room when you disembark after the first leg?

Well, assuming that you're in the same room for the next leg, that would work. If you're changing rooms, you'd probably need to hand carry the extras off and back on. And the limit is 2 bottles.

We ordered a wine package on a B2B cruise is 2016 with the understanding that it could be carried forward to the second cruise. It was handled very smoothly.

However, I don't think I would do it again as I think the asst server on the first cruise received the entire gratuity.

I've only done one B2B and we had the same my. My understanding is that if you have different rooms, you pack but leave your luggage in the first room and DCL taks care of transporting to the new room. So I don't think you;d need to take it off the ship and back on.

Just a point of clarification for the new people here, last I heard the limit is two bottles per person, not cabin.

And why is it that the person. Who doesn't drink knows this? LOL

From reading the policy it says "any guest 21 or over", so that would indicate that yes, it is per person.

Coastal Lady, from my actual experience you can do just what you propose...purchase the 7 bottle package and spread it over both cruises.

As for the two bottle/person limit which is really not germaine to her question, that applies to bottles of wine purchased off the ship.

Thanks for all the replies I was hoping would be able to use remaining wine in dining room on 2nd cruise and that servers would "carry forward". So sounds like this is doable
