Thanks haha! And you TOTALLY understand what I mean about the reds, cotton balls for sure...some have actually taken my breath away. I really think I need to just go on some wine tastings...

The other thing that stinks is that everybody has great suggestions of cheap wines from costco and trader joes but in my state markets can't sell alcohol. bummer.

Try a Zinfandel (not White Zin, red Zin). They tend to be much fruitier. I love Seven Deadly Zins, but there are many good ones for under $10... Plus, mostly their brands are puns of Zin/Sin... quite entertaining.

Some friends came over for dinner last night and brought a bottle of Smoking Loon Pinot Noir. My girlfriend described it as "smooth" and it really is. I'm not a big fan of tannins or oak. This was a very tasty wine!

Not to be tacky , but I just googled it to see how much it costs, and it's under 10 bucks a bottle. I will definitely be looking for this the next time I go to Publix.

I am one who wants to love wine, but I seem to find very few that I really enjoy. When on business meetings my boss always buys an expensive bottle of wine for dinner and I just never seem to like it.

But I was at a liquor store yesterday that only sells wine from local winerys and did a tasting of some fruit wines. The blackberry and pomegrate were AMAZING and I had to buy them.

I didn't taste the strawberry but I wanted to... maybe next time.

When we lived in the Seattle area we would go to The Bainbridge Island winery for their strawberry and rasberry wines, made with berries grown on the island. It was the necter of the Gods. Haven't had those in years and I'm not even sure the winery exists anymore.

I love whites, haven't been able to enjoy reds even though I've tried. Generally spend between $8 and $12 for everyday wines. Special occasions deserve Cakebread chardonnay!

Ooh, a fellow Cakebread lover! But, at $34/a bottle (twice that in a restaurant) you can't have it very often...AND, it's hard to find for most of the year. I usually keep one bottle in my wine fridge for a very special occasion. My current bottle has been there for over a year...with no special occasion in sight!

I love pinot grigio more than most other types--not as sweet as a reisling, but also not dry like chardonnay. I don't really drink red wine much, unless I (imagine the horror) CHILL it first.

There is a port wine made by Messina Hof (Bryan, Texas) that has a 15% alcohol level, which is less than other ports. It is also significantly less expensive than most port at about $15/bottle. It's Messina Hof's Ports of Call and is SO sweet and perfect!

I just got my tickets to the wine tasting fundraiser at my sons school yesterday. I am so excited. Every year there is one wine that I absolutely love.
