Someone last week (or thereabouts) just mentioned something about a wine that is sold at Trader Joe's only during the holiday season. A bunch of people chimed in about how great it was. I meant to write it down but I got busy. :( Anyone remember this thread??? Now of course I can't do a search, I HATE THAT THE SEARCH FEATURE NO LONGER WORKS HERE!! :( Anyone remember? It had a French sounding name to it, I think. I'm running over there tonight and would like to get a bottle since it was so well praised here...although I can't remember if I read about it here or on the Budget board. Or maybe some other board all together. LOL. I'm confused.

TIA!

Boujoulais Nouveau is the new vintage, being released about this time for 2007. Last year there was a Charles Shaw (aka 3 Buck Chuck) boujolais that was really good and really CHEAP.

I have just been to Trader Joes in Virginia, and they don't have any.

Boujoulais Nouveau. I was at my TJ yesterday for it, and they haven't received their shipment yet because they do not get their shipments via air so it takes longer. They're expecting delivery to New England locations tomorrow.
Other liquor stores sell it, but at a higher cost. I believe TJ's will offer it for $10 this year as opposed to $14

Isn't it $3.29 Chuck in Virginia? :) We occasionally go to the Trader Joes in Tyson's to buy a case of the Shiraz. For the money it can't be beat. I'd love to try the boujolais.

It was me!

If you can't find the Beaujolais Nouveau at your local TJ's, the Pacific Crest Merlot is also a very nice wine and always popular at our parties.

TJ's also has a nice selection of Riesling and a great Piesporter (if you need the name, LMK -- it's chilling in the upstairs fridge and I'm too lazy to go look right now. ;) )

Yes, that was what I was thinking of. :( Which TJs in Virginia?

I go to both Fairfax and Tysons Corner, I am equidistant from those two. Neither had it this weekend. I was at Fairfax this afternoon.

Well dammit! I knew there was a reason I wanted to go to TJ's today, but I changed my mind and went to my local store. I wanted to get some of this for Tday. Well thanks for the reminder. I'll have to go back to the store.

I am jealous of you all...we used to have trader joes wine available in my hometown back in CT, but I moved to PA 7 years ago, and grocery stores here aren't allowed to carry liquor. No more TJ's wine! :sad2:

My TJ's had it (Washington State). At least I think I bought the right stuff, I'm not too much of a wine drinker and don't frequent Trader Joe's all that often. Mine is the Charles Shaw version, just called "Nouveau" - it's $2.99 here. It's red, but pretty light and fruity and is supposed to be chilled, so I think it's the one.

It kind of reminds me of the Franzia Chillable Red boxed wine, easy to drink. I'm not a big fan of most of the reds that are supposed to served at room temp, I like my drinks cold.

Purple Moon Shiraz is lighter than most Shiraz's. I love how vibrant and fruit forward it is. It is hands down my favorite Trader Joe's wine, and it has the added bonus of being 3.99 (2.99? I forget, but CHEAP) a bottle and it's very very drinkable. I think it would be good with cranberry dishes. I've not tried their Merlot, it may be wonderful as well.

The Merlot is very good also. I give the PM Merlot for gifts at Christmas/Birthdays now I will have to pick up some of the Shiraz as well.

I have been meaning to go to Trader Joe's simply cuz I saw this post about this wine awhile ago...

What kind is it? Red? Sweet? Whats it comparable to?

I wanna get myself some wine!!!

Well shoot. Did you happen to ask if they were getting it in stock? I guess I'll put off my trip there tonight, I was sorta going there for that specifically. Maybe I'll wait until this weekend.

I'll take note of the other suggestions made (and be sure to SAVE this thread to my favorites :p ) in csae I can't find the Beaujolais Nouveau.

I'm not sure if we have World Market stores or not. Hmmmmm....gotta look into that.

Hmmm, I wonder if just our regular liquor store sells it? I may check there as well on the way home, I have those all over my city, no biggie to check and see.

Yay, I found out we DO have World Markets here, and there is one right by a Metro stop. So I'll run by there on my way home. I'm excited to try this wine, thanks for all the help! :)

It isn't sweet... If you like french-style wines, you will probably like this one. Actually, this year's vintage has been my favorite so far out of all the ones I've had since I turned 21.. but I still wouldn't want to drink it so that's not saying a lot. lol :D

Just remember this wine doesn't cellar well so if you buy it, you should drink it very soon. Don't hold on to this bottle :D
