Wine & Dine finish for spectators?

So, is it correct that family can watch you at the finish line OUTSIDE of Epcot? I'm thinking of saving the nearly $200 I'd have to pay just for my hubby and kids to attend the after party. Worried they will be tired, as well as I. They could instead enjoy extra magic hours in MK, then be there to watch me finish. Would this work? Is it easy to find a spot to watch finishers outside of Epcot?

The race finishes near the International Gateway, so they wouldn't be able to cut through Epcot to get a spot near the finish. An option for them would be to take a bus from MK after EMH to either the Swan/Dolphin, Yacht/Beach Club, or Boardwalk. From there they can walk to the finish area (someone else will have to comment on how crowded the bleachers get and when,) or they can watch you along the course easily during your last mile from HS to Epcot. After the race you'll have to either get a taxi back to your resort from one of the hotels, take a bus to DTD to catch a bus back to your resort, or your family should be able to take a bus from the Beach Club or Boardwalk to the front of Epcot to get to all the race transportation if you wanted to meet up and do that.

Actually, unless the course has been revised since last year's race, the race finishes near the main entrance bus stops, not the I-Gate. Year 1, yes the IGate was the finish but the course was modified in year 2 to alleviate the huge bottleneck.

So there is an opportunity to see you finish in the main parking lot near bus stops 6 & 8. They will not need tix to see the finish line.

Thanks for clearing that up. I didn't realize they tweaked the course, but I'm glad that they listen/ learned from some first year mistakes and changed the finish!

A little off topic, but may I just add that the last mile now is UNENDING. Maybe, cause the first year it ended at the international gateway, and so in my head I kept thinking last year I was almost done, but that last part just kept going, and going and going.
