Thoughts? Looking for a table service restaurant for a late dinner that appeals to DD1 and DD2. DD2 doesn't like what she sees at Blue Bayou (whose child is this?) nor Carthay Circle (sheesh). We're not looking for a show package, just a nice dinner (but not Napa Rose nice - though I doubt she'd like that one either....poor creature). Seems like Wine Country Trattoria might fit the bill. Thank you!!

Then again, DD1 and I could eat at BB and DD2 could sit on a curb with a churro and a dole whip and we could call it even.

What kid wouldn't want to have a churro and dole whip for dinner? I vote for that one! :)

We like WCT. The food is really good, the service has been mixed though. We've had great times and we've had "eh" times. There are a few tables that are 'inside' but most are outside, if that's a factor.

The inside has been very loud and not climate controlled when we've been seated there, not to our liking. The inside part is kind of like an enclosed patio, I guess I would describe it, all cement with glass doors. I would say it's designed to be open air but when we've been there they had the doors closed and it just made it really loud with all the sounds bouncing off the polished concrete. Maybe just bad luck...

We eat there in nice weather and just ask for outside. The lasagna is great!

I've only been to WCT once (admittedly a while ago) and it was a kind of "meh" experience (see here for the detailed review). Some of the food was very good, some was okay, but they did have trouble dealing with an allergies issue (under-cooked seafood - they didn't seem to understand what it was and how to deal with it). Overall, I found it to be a pretty typical Italian restaurant; nothing awful, but not somewhere that is high on the list of places to return to.

I think ImDMous has a great dinner suggestions (that's what the kids I've been to DLR with would want, but they would want to add in popcorn and a Gibson Girl sundae). :)

When you say "nice" do you mean "fancy" or just somewhere that has good food and a good atmosphere? I ask because I like Carnation Cafe, but it's not fancy.

Somewhere with good food and atmosphere! We're actually booked at Carnation Cafe for a late lunch on another day - DD1, DH and I ate there on our last trip and LOVED it! I think DD2 will really enjoy it too.

Thank you for your input!! We'll be there mid-August so we're hoping that late night dinners might mean a bit cooler temperature (especially outside) in a non-climate controlled place.

We really like eating there, it is actually one of our favorite places to eat at DL, despite the mediocre reviews it sometimes gets. It is nice to sit out on the patio and watch the people go by (or the Pixar Parade if that is going on at the time). I have always had a good meal there but I am the type that finds something he likes and sticks with it so I can't speak to the quality of food across the board.

We usually get the same thing also, bruschetta, sangria, campanelle bolognese, tiramisu. Yum! Sometimes the bolognese is a little greasy, but I really liked the shrimp scampi too.

We ate upstairs in the casual place. We ordered wine and tapas. It was perfect for our needs.

As I recall, our meal was "OK". It's one we'll try again at some point.

We found the food quite good at the WCT. My only regret is not requesting an outdoor table. We got stuck inside and it was so loud! I'd definitely go back, but I'd make sure to sit outside.

I absolutely love the food at WCT. I've eaten there twice and both times had one of the best meals ever at Disney (In park). Once I ordered an appetizer platter with fried artichoke and fried calamari that had a dipping sauce that was amazing. I also ordered the shrimp scampi which is really good and my husband ordered the Bolognese pasta which was made at Disney. And the Tiramisu was wonderful as well

We've always had a good time at WCT. While it's not our favorite Italian food by far, it is fine for what it is, i.e. a theme park restaurant. (If we wanted great Italian food, we wouldn't be eating at DLR!) Everyone manages to find something they like and we make sure to sit outside to watch the Pixar Parade go by. Service can be spotty, but we make sure to communicate as clearly as we can what we want, asking for a lead if necessary. So far, that has worked fine.

Ate there as a singleton, and had quite good service (not always a given when you're alone). The food was good, my table was lovely and shady. I'm gluten intolerant and they were very knowledgeable about that, and were careful with my entree. I did the WOC package (lunch) and because of my intolerance, rather than make me stick to the rather limited menu choices for the package, the server told me that I could have anything on the menu to accomodate my dietary restrictions. Nice!

I guess I'm the lone wolf who hated WCT! We were there last October. The service was slow, the waiter was inept and the food was 'average' at best - we likened it to Olive Garden. The only good part was we were seated outside so the atmosphere was nice. But we would not return.

Yikes! We're still deciding.... thank you for the input!

We enjoyed the food when we were there. We were outside at a shaded table and it was nice (this was in August). We had the Fritto Misto, which was very good, and I also remember a Caprese Salad that was good. I do recall that service was slow, though.

I think we might not mind slow service - we've found (particularly at WDW) table service restaurants tend toward the "move 'em out quick" model which, though great for maximizing park time, doesn't always allow for a relaxed meal. Thank you for your input!

Wine and Craft Beer bars on either side of it are great quick stops fwiw.
Also on board the WCT. Its a nice place to relax.
