I see that Wine Country Trattoria offers both lunch and dinner World of Color Dining packages. I have two questions.

Is there a difference in the menu between the lunch and dinner menus for the World of Color dining?

Is the World of Color viewing area pass the same for lunch and dinner?

The passes are not. With dinner you get preferred viewing, with lunch you just get a blue FP which you can get for free from the machines in the morning.

sonnyjane set me straight on this as well. As a WDW, DVC and DCL veteran it never ceases to amaze me how much more info you get from the DISboards (and other unofficial sites) vs. Disney's own website. If you look at the WoC info on disneyland.com you'd have absolutely no idea that there is any difference in the viewing areas that you're entitled to with WCT lunch vs. dinner.

DW, DS16 and DD13 and I are making our first family visit to DL next month and we're definitely springing the extra $10 per person for the dinner so we can experience WoC from the premium viewing area. Plus the WCT dinner menu appeals to us more so its really a no-brainer.

Really glad I caught this thread as we were going to book lunch for WOC ( with the 8 hour time difference we would tend to be hungry about lunchtime, well it always seemed that way when we were in Florida) but now looks like we may snack & go for dinner . Although might wait a while to see if Cathay menu comes online

We just booked our lunch reservation yesterday for WCT. I had no idea it only got us blue fp's. That is riduculous.

Unless you were planning on eating at WCT anyway, I'd just go ahead and cancel the reservation.

I disagree with the previous responses unless a change has been made during the past 6 weeks.

We ate at WCT for lunch on 3/31 and did the WOC package. The food was excellent and we got the preferred viewing tickets. We were so close to the WOC show that we got wet.

I don't mean to challenge you, but are you sure you're not mistaken? Just because you were close enough to get wet does not mean that you were in the preferred section. Others that have done the lunch package have confirmed that you only get a regular FP, NOT a preferred pass. Last week someone asked on the boards because the wording online is unclear and I called Disneyland to confirm. They indeed told me that with LUNCH you get a blue FP, with DINNER you get a preferred pass. I know that CM's are not infallible, but I'm pretty confident that she was telling the truth since it jives with everything else I've ever heard or read, other than your report.

Thanks for the replies. I suspected there was a difference with the fast pass you receive for lunch since it is ten dollars less than the dinner package.

I am positive it was preferred viewing because it was printed on our ticket. We got there at 8:05 pm for the 9 pm show and were escorted past lots of people, down some steps, and right to the railing. (We did the WOC picnic the previous year and our tickets had a specific color section listed.) This was our experience on 3/31/12 but maybe some changes have happened. I did check the Disneyland website and for WCT WOC lunch and WCT WOC dinner it says, "includes Disney Dining reserved viewing ticket." For the WOC picnic lunch it says, "secures your spot in the WOC viewing area."

Yes, that was the wording I was referring to online that I called about last week and it was explained to me that they were (still) different. Interesting. What time did you eat your lunch?

Our lunch reservation was at 11:50 a.m.

Hmm. Well, it's definitely interesting. I'm not doubting that it happened to you since you've obviously done the picnic before so you know the difference, I'm just curious as to what the standard procedure is now since I've been told so much to the contrary!

Very odd. I confirmed with Disneyland a few days ago that the WOC WCT lunch was different than the dinner. I was on the phone inquiring about Carthay Circle Theater and if there would be a WOC dining package for CCT released soon. The CM thought so, but had zero information on it. I asked about WOC options after June 15th and she said that officially right now only WCT had WOC dining options. She explained the difference between lunch and dinner and was very clear on the phone that you don't get a preferred dining FP with lunch. In fact she laughed when I asked and said she wished it were that way, because people think that is how it should be and they complain afterwards.

So, I would be very careful booking the lunch and expecting a preferred dining FP. I would ask to see the WOC FPs before paying for the meal, just to be sure.

ArchOwl, from a customer service standpoint, I can only imagine the firestorm this causes! The website absolutely does NOT differentiate between the two viewing areas (it used to say "reserved" vs. "preferred" but now there is no difference in the description of the areas, which is what prompted me to call and confirm that there hadn't been a change). A little more clarity about everything - the preferred dining, the lunch option, and the picnics - would certainly improve the customer experience in that EVERYONE would know what they were getting going into it.

I agree, but it seems that Disney likes to keep people guessing in many cases. WOC isn't the only unclear policy laid out by Disney. Very weird! :rotfl:

I realize that people can call dining reservations at Disneyland and get different answers, but I just booked WCT for lunch on 6/27 at noon. The wording on the web page says that both the lunch and the dinner packages get the same preferred viewing. I verified this with the CM I spoke to who assured me that for our date and time we would be getting the preferred viewing FP. I'll be interested to hear what others discover as they call Disney.

We just called as well (thought they were closed) and the CM said both dinner and lunch received colored fast passes for WOC.
Yeah, she didn't know what she was talking about. We'll call tomorrow.

When I booked my WOC package for June 2nd I was going to book a lunch. The super nice CM on the phone suggested the dinner instead, because it had much better viewing. So I ended up going with the 5:30pm dinner for 9pm show.
