Wine/Champagne Drinkers - Can you help?

+1000 on the asking the waiter for their suggestions or asking for the Sommelier to come over - just indicate what you like and also what food you are thinking of ordering as they will know better what will stand up to what, etc.

Also, if you are thinking of getting a heavier meat and would like to try a red, a few lighter ones include a dry rose, pinot nior, or a petit sarah ...

oh, one last thing ... we just got back from a trip at ate at the California Gril (absolutely great meal by the way) and they let us take home out unfinished bottle of wine. So if you are worried about drinking too much wine if you aren't used to it, you can still get a bottle and then bring the rest back with you

Have fun ... and don't stress about it :goodvibes

I have one more recommendation for you, if you like a light and fruity wine, try Magicale! its a sparkling wine and we just LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

I also heard this is similiar to Rosa Regale - I absolutely love the Rosa Regale - its red in color, small bubbles, no yeast smell or flavor - berry, strawberries, etc... if you get a glass in the store in Italy - they give you a nice chocolate!! (think strawberries dipped in chocolate!!)

I would explain to the server exactly what you just asked. They will have the added advantage of knowing what will work best with your food!

Dont hesitate to tell them your price point - they are there and love to work with you!!

Pinot is a nice light fruity (not heavy) red
Sryah is another lighter red - and some have a back note flavor, hint of coffee - I did not know this - I went to a taste testing and the winery was sampling and said that - I burst out Laughing - no wonder dh loves Sirahs and I dont!!

the Merlot and Cabernets tend to be "richer" or heavier - and if you are not a wine drinker - you really should taste one before having it - DS and his DW want to like reds, but often the reds are just too strong (some have a very strong peppery flavor - which I think matches well with beef!!)

There is no wrong choice either - if you love the flavor of a Reisling, or Pinot Grigiot and want it with beef - it works for you, it works!!

Something I've noticed many of the Disney restaurants offer is a "wine flight"; that is, several smaller glasses of different wines. IIRC, they usually offer a red or white "flight", but you could probably ask for a mix....

This gives you an opportunity to expand your "wine palate" and find out for yourself how different wines enhance (or detract) from a particular type of food. :goodvibes

Though it wasn't at a restaurant, I know that my wife any I greatly enjoyed our Australian "wine walkabout" we took during a past F&W. We learned about a number of Australian wines and came away with a new favorite; "Little Penguin" shiraz! :goodvibes

I have never heard of a 'wine flight'. It this what they truly call it... wine flight? I want to look for it on my next trip in Dec.

Ditto the "wine flight" question. I've looked at the disney menus for several weeks now and haven't seen this listed anywhere!

You could also try Liebfraumilch (mother's milk in German), it is sweet, light, and fruity. Icewine is another option; it is very sweet, almost syrupy and has a delightful golden color.

It was definitely called a "wine flight" at Boma; my wife ordered one there. :goodvibes

It might have other names at other restaurants, but I'm pretty sure I've seen this wine "sampler" concept at several places.

IIRC, Biergarten does one for beer, as well....

Artist Point has offered wine flights for years....since it opened as I recall. Flights are offered at Flying Fish (love the champagne flight there) and Sanaa as well.
