Wine at AKL

How is the afarican wine(s) at AKL. Do they have a sweet taste? Are some dry? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone has had the beer there. I like the wine and DH is the beer drinker.

They have a nice variety of African wines. We've dined there twice and I had a chardonnay once and a pinot noir the second dinner. Both were very good and dry enough for me . Don't remember what beers they have. I'm sure Uncleromulus knows.

They have a wide range of wines whichshould appeal to any wine drinker. The Indaba Chardonay is a tad on the sweet side. I've had merlots that ranged from extremely tannic to somewhat fruity. The wine list is pretty diverse. Your server will pour a taste of several if you can't decide.

My husband likes the Casablanca beer, but there is another beer there, Tusker taht he thinks is the best.

One of the things I have always liked about Jiko is the knowledge of the waitstaff with regard to both the menu and wine list - especially Tiffany who is just outstanding. If you are undecided but can tell them what you are looking for (sweet vs dry, etc) your server will most likely steer you in the right direction. And I'm not talking about toward the most expensive selections but really to the ones they think will please your palate.

I second PammyK. Tiffany is an excellent server.
I have some Cape Inaba Chardonnay in my refrigerator right now. It is the house wine at AKL. I usually do not like Chardonnay because it is sweeter but, it is a bit dry so it is less sweet than most chardonnay's. You should give it a try!

Wish I could remember the name of the white wine I had at Boma one night - I wasn't impressed with it

I tried all the wines they set out for the concierge lounge and I think they are also served in the restaurants. I perferred the reds but thought they were all nice. When we are down next I'm going to pick some up for home.

Alice--They have the Indaba wines in most liquor/package stores all over the USA, and it's considerably cheaper than it is to buy at WDW. Here in NJ I pay as little as $8 per bottle for the Indaba's.

Well, I went to the local grocery/liquor store and they didn't have any African labels, so I guess I'll try one of the wine specialty type stores this week. Any other label suggestions, as long as I'm going I should make it worth the trip right?
