Wine and Dine 2015

Does everyone typically wear their magic band during their races? Or do you have someone meet you with it after the race?

I put mine in my fuel belt. I typically use the free one I got with the most recent reservation and not my limited edition ones just in case if falls off.

Good freaking Lord! The weather report for day of W&D now has a high of 90! Ugh, I am going to stop looking until it gets closer lol. (on the plus side all rain that day is gone, but I am not holding my breath! ) :)

My mom lives with DH and I so I have her stalking my mail lady! :)

I won't be looking at the weather till I leave. I can't control it so I don't want to worry about it. Lucky for us if it is 90 it shouldn't be when we're running.

I got my gift card today,I would expect most will get it throughout this week.As far as the weather I'll start looking at it a week from today, now is way too early.Even if I start looking at it a week from now the forecast may change 3-4 times.

I feel a little silly but I just ordered a box of Justin's peanut butter packets to bring with me to FL because I prefer natural peanut butter and they always have the processed stuff in the food courts. :D That is how dedicated I am to my pre-race meal! ;)
I love Justin's packets! My favorite is the maple almond butter but lately I've been loving the chocolate hazelnut. I'm bringing a couple of packets and rice cakes with me for my mid-afternoon snack too!

I've decided to try to be zen about the merchandise and take what comes. If things are sold out, I'm just going to take it as a sign that my wallet is being saved from my spending urges :) I may have peaked a bit too early on the training. I did my last long run last weekend (11.5 miles) because this past weekend was the marine corps marathon 10k. I did it with a friend, had a great time, and managed a 10k PR! The race had great logistics, but was super crowded. So good practice for Disney. And now I have a new PR to use for POT for future races. I had been trying for this PR earlier to use it as POT for this race but the 10k's I did in April and June were too hot for me. So I'm really happy with the way this one went. There was rain but the temps were only in the 50's and there was very little wind.

I was THIS close to running MCM10k this year but had to back out b/c of DH's work schedule and DS's school calendar. I'm so excited to do that one someday. I'm glad to hear you liked it! But DH really needs to get a job that is better suited to my running plans... :rotfl2:Stupid airlines just changed our flight for the DL Star Wars race weekend and I just spent over two hours trying to get that sorted out. :badpc:

On other notes - I too have not yet received my gift card yet but I will NOT stand in line to wait for it which really upsets me if that's what ends up happening (b/c I PAID for all the perks I should get them as offered). DH stood in line at the expo for his GC for over an hour while I did bib pick up and shopped merch two years ago. Never again. Since DH won't be with me, I'm not waiting around for hours to get a GC. which I'm sure they are counting on. :headache:

The thing that gets me about the welcome reception is that they aren't clear about the whole "shopping an hour early" thing. To me, that sounds like I still gotta haul my butt back to ESPN but even EARLIER in order to get my early shopping perk? If they would let us shop that night, I would have MAYBE considered it just so I could sleep in on Friday and b/c I am traveling alone on Thursday anyhow.

And finally... I seem to have pulled a groin muscle.... wait for it.... BAKING! Yes, I managed to dump a bunch of cooling racks out of the cabinet and onto my toes and hopped around and seem to have tweaked something somehow. So. Not. Cool.

Even if its not 90 at 10:30 pm,you don't want it that hot,the heat just carries over, your body is warm from all day meaning you will sweat,a lot!!Tower of Terror I think 2 years ago was really miserable on a 88-90 degree day, probably more humidity than early November but I sweat more on that race than even on fulls, people not used to the heat were getting sick all over, not ideal, and thats 3.1 miles less than W&D.

"Thank you for contacting us regarding a runDisney event.

We appreciate your inquiry about submitting proof of time for Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon. Unfortunately, the deadline to submit proof of time for this event has passed as of August 4, and we are unable to accept any further submission. As you would expect, we receive a tremendous number of requests from many fine individuals and groups -- far more than we are able to accommodate. As such, we are unable to offer any exceptions for we are not able to grant one request over another. Please understand our difficult position and accept our sincere apologies.

We do apologize for any disappointment this may cause."

Oh well I'll try to get this updated at the expo. If not we'll see what happens. I have no plans of allowing this to impact my time on the run.

I also did my last one last weekend (ran a local half marathon). I think we will be fine. :) At least that's what I keep telling myself since I'm nervous about having done my last long one 3 weeks out, but I did it 3 weeks out from Tink, too, and it was ok, and I trained much harder overall for this than Tink (my training the last 3-4 weeks was horrible due to stress about our dog and his cancer surgery).

Re: magic band... I'm just going to wear mine. I run with a Garmin so I might move the MB to my other wrist for the race, though.

Yikes, 90! It's been at least a month since I trained in heat and humidity. Hopefully like 3 months worth of being used to it is still with me? :)

Re the magic bands... just to make sure I'm not missing something. We dont' HAVE to run with them right? We can just wear the party wristbands they give us to get into the after party?

Yeah me too. I'm SO screwed. I've been trying to sort of "over dress" on my last few runs so I didn't get too used to the lovely 50s.... But if it's gonna be 70 at the start, I'm going to have to adjust my pace WAY down and my electrolyte replacement up....

No need to run with them as long as you have them in your bag or someone in your party has them. Remember you will need your magic band to get back into your hotel after the race.

It was a really well organized race, really motivational (the last mile was almost lined with marines giving high fives), lots of people running for loved ones in the military, etc. The only downsides are that it's a point to point so that makes logistics more difficult and the congestion. The crowds can definitely be dealt with, I just didn't expect it for a non Disney race. My friend and I both agreed this is one we would do again in spite of the logistics and crowds. I'm sorry about the airline and the groin muscle :( I hope that it's better soon!

You're right, I think we'll both be fine :) I did something similar for the Rock and Roll DC and it ended up being fine too. I hope your dog's surgery goes well.

Yeah, I MIGHT be a little OCD about the weather, lol. :)

Thank you I didn't even THINK about this! Fortunately DH will have his.

It's crazy to me that people are paying that much for this thing. Of course, if you are one of those people who buys up merchandise and then sells it for a big mark-up on ebay, I guess it wouldn't take much to get your money back on your investment. :(

My guess is all the people who normally buy up merchandise to resell will buy these tickets like they did for the Star Wars events. They'll get their return on investment from their inflated prices on eBay.

I wore mine during Princess weekend and was fine with it so I will likely wear it again for W&D.

My gift cards arrived Saturday. It is a rather plain white envelope, but it is an odd size, so it sticks out, and the Disney Sports return address is rather large.
