My long run was supposed to be 2:10 this weekend, had to run on Friday because of us spending the weekend at Cedar Point. I was on pace to make it to a half marathon distance until I ran into a very malnourished puppy pitbull. I was running at our local fairgrounds and was planning on running down a busier roast to a subdivision, but the dog decided he wanted to run with me andididn't want him to follow me and get hit. He was not going to leave my side, didn't jump on me, bark at me, just trotted along. So I called my wife and it took her awhile to get back to me, so I ran loops around the fair for about 4 miles. My wife showed up with 9 minutes to go and at 12.65 miles. Oh well. Spent the rest of the day trying to find a home for this poor pup.
We'll my 10 mile run today was NOT good. My garmin lost location at 8.0 miles so I turned it off. It also was randomly pausing and restarting while I was running. So I did my intervals for 30 more minutes as I had been averaging around 15.00 mm.
I had been lazy about my maintenance runs, only did 1 of 4 in the past two weeks. Then last Saturday I was at WDW and didn't run at all. We did walk about 85-100 miles I over 5 days though and I have been up late every night since we got back Tuesday night. I have felt exhausted but didn't want to skip another run.
I'm hoping my bad run today was just a result of all that and I'll be able to get back on track?
Also during today's run was the first time I thought I was going to throw up, twice. I was eating 1/2 honey stinger waffle every 3 miles but after mile 6 I couldn't stomach the thought of eating any more. I was alternating water and powerade about every 2 miles, MAYBE 3 ounces tops each stop. It was about 60 degrees when I started and 78 when I finished. And all in the shade. So idk what was up with my stomach today.
It sounds like you got the better part of 10 miles done. Success! Long runs don't need to be pretty.
Honey Stingers have quite a bit of fat in them; I wonder...

Were you taking stinger waffles and taking powerade at the same time. That will cause the stomach become sloshy, too high a concentration of carbohydrates to water.
Some people can't do high fructose corn syrup. I think bottled powerade has HFCS.
You still have two long runs to figure this out.
This is very individual. I ran 10 miles this morning without taking a single sip of liquid. Past 10 miles I need something, but not necessarily Gatorade. Everyone is different.I may have, as I was alternating water with powerade. I'm thinking of alternating the waffles with pretzels, to eliminate some of the sweetness. I don't sweat overly much, unless it's ridiculously hot. Do I really need the powerade during the run if I eat pretzels? Or can I just drink water and have a powerade (or Gatorade) at the end?

I did my "I know I can at least finish the race" distance of 9 miles yesterday. Felt great! I went slow since it was a new distance and I had to split my prior 8 mile run into 2 days due to weather. But I felt great and only minimal soreness today. It was the longest I have gone since PHM in Feb. too.
I noticed that with the Tropical Fruit flavor that I used at first, that it was slightly bitter at first, which I assumed was due to the fizziness. As the run went on, I didn't notice it as much anymore (but the fizziness also went away, so that's why I was thinking it was that).I just can't stand the commercial gatorades and powerades, and any of the other electrolyte drinks like nuun that I've tried...I just hate the flavor of....I think it's the vaguely bicarbonate flavor..... Maybe add another flavoring as well?
This past weekend I used the Cherry Limeade caffeinated one, because I've been having some headache troubles on long run days, due to getting up a lot earlier than usual and not getting my coffee until like 5 hours after getting up.So I thought if I got a little caffeine in me during my run, that would stave off the headache (it did!). Anyway, I did not notice the slight bitterness in that one like the Tropical Fruit.
Once my coffee headache starts, even having coffee doesn't make it go away. It's basically there until I go to bed. I normally have 16oz at breakfast and another 16oz at 8-9pm (it doesn't keep me awake), and on Saturdays (long run days) I also have another 20oz in the late morning. So I get plenty of caffeine, it just doesn't fix it.
So I was pretty glad that the caffeinated Nuun seemed to do the trick.
They gave use a wristband at packet pick-up last year that served as our entry ticket into the party, so as long as you have that + your bib I feel like that SHOULD be enough...but like you said it's probably smart to ask at Runner Relations. I hope you feel better!Has anyone had to pull out of a race and then still go to the party?
I've had some personal issues early in training and now back pain in late training that have really been screwed me and I'm starting to get worried. Hitting the rest of the training hard but am no where near where I should be. I am not cancelling the trip as it is also a good friends first time in years to Disney so we will still be there and my fiance and friend also have tickets to the after party. I have a lot of friends running so if I pull out I would love to be able to go to the party but don't want to buy a ticket after paying for a bib. Is it possible to just go to runner relations and ask for a party pass if you know your not going to be able to finish?
I know I'll be able to do about half the distance but if it was this weekend I know I'd struggle after the first 6 miles.
