So.. I sent a request for a 2 bedroom at Windsor and almost immediately I got a response saying that week was not available. Then ten minutes later I got a response from an owner who said his unit was available for that week for $550, with a deposit of $50 and remainder due 45 days prior.

Then I got another email from the "owner" saying he had a lovely unit for $715 and the email went into a lot of detail.


It sounds too good to be true, what am I getting myself into if I rent this?

From my research, Windsor Hills is privately owned condos/villas. Some of the owners rent through the management company, some rent privately. It all depends on how or where you search for the rentals. The only advice I can offer is to get everything in a contract and verify that they are the owner. I think if you are going through a reputable site you should be fine. If you are going through Craigslist, I would expect it to be more of a scam.

It is directly from the Windsor hills site that I got on here. So I think its trustworthy. I have since had about 5 more people get back to me with quotes on their condos so I think I understand it more now. I just thought it sounded too good to be true. They are all in the same range of $500 to $700 for 7 nights which seems very cheap so I was skeptical.

I think you are good. I just started looking at this resort myself. I think their rental site allows owners to see people's requests and send quotes. I was skeptical when I got an incredible deal for WBC. Ever since I have searched high and low for best value. By using WBC quotes, I have been able to get good deals on DVC renters too. $1,200 for 7-nights in 1BR units at Boardwalk and SSR.

We stayed in a two bedroom condo at Windsor Hills for $500 and it was wonderful. We booked through vacationcentralflorida.com

I think the site you looked at is one of a few "portal" sites that forwards inquiries to the owners of the condos and homes so that they may respond, if available, with a quote for your requested days. We have used those sites before with success. You can compare the amenities and rates to find the best fit for your stay. Keep in mind that each condo/home is privately owned and managed differently so the amenities may not be apples to apples.

Yes I have figured out that this is what it is, lol. I was just so nervous about getting sucked into a timeshare presentation and wanted to make sure this isn't what it was. Thank you everyone for your help.

The best way to get out of a timeshare spiel is to tell them your spouse is not with you. They cannot take you through it without both present. Just tell them you are traveling without your spouse.
