We are booked for the end of November at Windsor Hills and I was wondering when we could expect to pay the balance we owe. Its still just over 3 months away and we paid our deposit in January. I haven't heard anything from the owner yet. Is it too early for me to make payment? I'm dying to get everything organised especially while the exchange rate is so good.:cloud9:

Your rental contract should specify when the balance is due. Most owners do not mind if you pay early, though. ;)

Were staying there in December and the owner and I have been in contact off and on and he said he would email me about 6 weeks out and I can pay the balance. Probably different with every owner though so I would drop him an email if I was you.

True!

If I lived in the UK I'd be trying to pay now too, the exchange rate is well over $2.00 / 1 GBP at the moment.

We ask for payment 6 weeks out but some guests do opt to pay sooner, never a problem for us! :)

I have just emailed the owner to ask about payment along with a couple of other questions.

I am in Australia and and at the moment we are getting nearly 85cents to the US dollar. Last time we went to DL (2005) we averaged 60-62cents. Even when I paid by deposit back in January it was in the low 70's.

I haven't seen a rental contract. I have asked about that also. I just have an email saying they have noted the dates and received my deposit. I do see that the dates are blocked out on the MC's website.

I'm so excited. I don't know what I'm going to do when I come back as I spend so much time on these boards and planning my trip. Its going to feel like my arm has been cut off.:cheer2:

Hi PrincessBelle - I am going to Windsor Hills in early November - I sent my final payment about 2-3 weeks ago to my owner. I didn't get a rental contract either and my original owner sold the condo! I sent a bank draft, which was easy. My owner has been in Orlando for the last 2 weeks, so I'm not sure yet whether she's got the payment yet - I'm waiting for my confirmation from Aust. Post to advise the letter has been collected. I wanted to get in with the good exchange rate, too!! ;)
I was only thinking the other day about what I would do when I got home - I would have nothing to look at on the internet!!!:surfweb: :rotfl:
Still, I guess there is always trip reports, and photos to post!

My owner sent me a reply to say that I could pay 8 weeks prior to arrival. And then he followed up with a phone call tonight to see if I had any other questions. I thought that was really nice. He has been so great to deal with. He lives in Scotland so I can pay in pounds and send it to him, or I can pay in US dollars and send it to his management company. I will have to go into the bank to find out how to go about this as I have never done anything like this before. I said that I would like to pay early due to the exchange rate and he was fine with this. Not that I expected it to be a problem.

And BOY have we felt that pain of that being in London this summer!!!

But anyway... usually payment is required 6 weeks out, but some owners require it 8 or even 10 weeks out (I avoid the latter, personally). So check your contract.

As for paying early, you bet owners would rather have that money in their pocket earning interest (or whatever) than in yours! My mother, who rented herself a condo for March in WH for 08, has already paid off her entire balance. She is like the OP -- wants to get it over with! Just make sure you get receipts so everyone is clear how much has been paid and how much is owed.

It's very easy - I just went to the bank and asked for a Bank Draft in US$. Just a small ( ) fee, and I had the cheque in my hand!
I have heard now that my owner has recieved my payment and all is OK.
Just curious - which works out a better price for you - UK Pounds or US$? When I was working out initial costs I looked at some condos in UKPounds and they seemed a lot dearer once the exchange rate was taken into account.
I'm getting so excited now - I feel like I did when I was a kid waiting for Christmas..!!:confused3 This holiday can't come soon enough!!! Just like yours!

If your homeowner accepts payment by credit card (for example via PayPal) then you can choose what currency you prefer to use.

This is also good, but I found that the PayPal exchange rate was nowhere near as good as my bank! But you have the security of credit card payment etc. It is worth checking out, though.
