Windsor Hills vs on-site

I'm going to Disney in mid January. It might be just me and my two girls ages 3 and 6. My parents can't make a vacation decision till about a month before the trip so I am planning it as if it were just the three of us.
This is not my daughters first trip. We went this past May and got spoiled staying in a br villa at OKW, but I can't afford that for this trip. This past trip we did only half days at the park and spent the evening resting. Having that extra space was nice.
I am having a hard time trying to decide if I should stay at a Windsor Hills condo, or on-site at All Star Value Suite or OKW studio.
The condo is cheaper and offers more space (full kitchen, washerldryer), but I am worried about having to comute. How will the drive be to Disney in January.
What are your thoughts. Since I have never stayed off-site I'm not sure which would be best.
Thank You.

Since it's possible that your parents may join you my suggestion would be Windsor Hills or OKW.

The drive to Disney from Windsor Hills is very short. (5 min) AK is closest and MK is the furthest to get to but still not far....it's just a matter of taking the monorail, etc.

You'll have plenty of space to spread out, multiple t.v.'s, kitchen, washer/dryer. There isn't a restaurant or food court on-site though. There are lots of restaurants nearby in every price range so take-out is an easy option, especially on your way home from Disney.

OKW is a nice option as well, especially since your children are young. I would take OKW over a room at a value. To me it just feels bigger.

It sounds like you will have a car. If you dont, I wouldn't consider Windsor Hills or any off-site option. As long as you have one, Windsor Hills is a nice close location with lots of new condos and homes. You'll definitely get a lot for your money, especially if you are looking for a place to relax after the parks.

Windsor Hills is very, very close to the Disney. It is no more of a "commute" to any of the parks than many of the WDW resorts. If you take Sherberth Rd, it's just two stoplights--one left, one right--and you're "on property," so there's no traffic to speak of.

I stayed at Windsor Hills in May. I timed it from our driveway to the parking booths at the MK. It took 12 minutes. The other parks would be even less. Of course, I might have been lucky with the lights and maybe driven a little faster (or slower) than you might. :teeth:
Don't worry about the commute, it's quick and easy. Windsor Hills is a beautiful place. I stayed in a gorgeous 3 bedroom/3 bath townhome with a private splash pool for about $550/week.

Go with Windsor Hills and if your folks decide to come you have plenty of room for them! If not, everyone has there own room and a good nights sleep. Also find Sherberth road on the map because it is a super shortcut to Disney. It puts you on Oseola Pkwy right next to Animal Kingdom in about 5 mins vs. 12 to 15 through World Dr. Not to throw a jink in things, but look at Windsor Palms as well. We really fell in love with that place. Its real close to Windsor Hills.
