We rented a top floor 3/2 condo unit in the back of the complex from Magical Vacation Homes. The unit was spotless and very comfortable. Our interactions with Magical Vacation Homes were excellent and I would do business with them again.
No time for a long review, but after staying in many different vacation homes in the past, I would not book at WH again. We picked WH for a quick trip with our two youngest children.
We are country people and we felt claustrophobic during our stay at WH. I never imagined the complex was so large! This is like a small city! The noise bothered us of people coming and going. If you are a city person you might never notice.
We booked a fireworks view. Ok we could see them, but they were tiny spots of light way off in the distance. It was laughable really. My fantasy of enjoying fireworks on the balcony with dh was burst. My small children are terrified of the noise so I thought this would be the perfect compromise. Instead we ended up at the park and put noise cancelling ear muffs on the preschooler. There was nothing to look at but the parking lot and busy road alongside the complex.
The kitchen was fine for snacks and using the microwave. Too small for much else. If you are used to a small home or an apartment it will be great.
The pool was nice, but you have to get into the car to drive to it unless you are in a very close building. We really missed having our own private pool outside our back door and a patio BBQ on.
We saved only a few hundred dollars over the cost of a home and feel that we gave up too much of what we were accustomed to. It is super hot and in the past we always relaxed by the pool during the day and went to the park in the late afternoon. With a condo the only thing to do was to watch television. A townhome would have been better since we would have had a splash pool.
Overall this was the wrong place for us, but I am sure it is wonderful for many others. It is a clean complex and feels very safe.
Distance to the park was not the convenience we thought it would be. We would be willing to drive a few more minutes to have the amenities of a home in our price range.

If you had have asked about a fireworks view on here before you booked lots of people would have told you to not bother with it because they were too far away to see. We had a pool home at WH one time that you could see the fireworks from the upstairs window and never bothered with it after the first night. We didn't get the home because of the fireworks view just ran upstairs to look when we heard the bangs.
Another option to enjoying the fireworks without the noise is to go to the Polynesian Resort and sit on the beach. The music is piped in there and the view is awesome - next best thing to being in front of the castle. Grand Floridian is a good spot also.

Sorry you didn't enjoy your stay. I think you're right about having been happier in a townhome. We were there at the exact same time as you! We were in a townhome on the edge of the complex (turn to the left at the entry gate). Our house backed up to an open green area. We loved our home and thoroughly enjoy our stay. We considered a condo since the prices were lower, but we're glad we chose a townhome. It was nice that our teenagers could go upstairs and play video games (our unit had a PS2), while we relaxed downstairs.

Regarding the size of the complex, I didn't find it to be that large compared to the Disney resorts. True, some units are far enough away from the pool that you have to drive. We had a splash pool and never used the main pool.

I guess Windsor Hills isn't everyone's cup of tea. Hopefully you'll find a place you like better for your next trip!:)

Having a little trouble understanding the point, other than the fireworks view issue. WH is huge and claustrophobic?

I'm with sympatico - if you see an ad for "fireworks view" for anything off-property (and even on), get on Google maps and see just how far away you are from MK.

And I'm with Luv Bunnies, a townhome is slightly more than condo but no neighbors above or below, and you're own outside space. We like the east side of Maneshaw as no rear neighbors.
