I am debating whether to rent a townhouse with a splash pool or a villa with a full size pool for our last minute trip this June. Obviously I'd save some $'s renting a townhouse but I have visions of these little baby wading pools when I think splash pool.

I guess what I'm trying to figure out is the size of the splash pool. Are they big enough to throw a floatie in the pool and lay on it? If our family of four (myself, dh, dd7, dd16) decide to be in the pool at one time will we be shoulder to shoulder or are they bigger than that? I know I've been told they are 12x12 but even measuring it out on the floor I just can't seem to picture how much room it will give us.

We have rented a condo at WP before and did not enjoy going back and forth to the community pool...and at the time it was very crowded. So we are not even considering the community pool as an option in making our decision. So if the splash pool is our only option will it be big enough?

TIA

It's more than big enough for all 4 of you to be in there at the same time and not be shoulder - shoulder. I was in mine in Jan with 4 full size adults and we all had plenty of space. We regularly go in with 2 parents and 2 kids and space isn't really an issue at all. You could also easily lay out on a pool float and be perfectly comfortable...now 4 pool floats at the same time, probably not...but it's a lot bigger than I think you think it is. Much bigger than say, a hot tub.

Think of a 12 x 12 bedroom, they're fairly large if you consider many rooms are this size, with no furniture in it!

A full size pool is typically 12x24 if that helps at all?

We even had 2-3 adults in ours...2 kids (4 & 7)...and 2 little kids (age 2)..and had plenty of space. Well, it got annoying when my 7 year old woudln't stop splashing everyone granted, but that's not the pool's fault! lol

Thanks! That info helps tremendously. My dd7 just wants some water to play and splash in, my dd16 will be happy to find a corner of the pool and catch some rays, dh doesn't swim, and I'm happy as long as they are happy! :)

I found the community pool so crowded at WP when we were there we were pretty well confined to our own little part of the pool anyways.

Now I have to go find the floor plan for my own house and see which room is close to 12 x 12 :cool1:

The full size villa pools are 28 x 14 with a good size deck plus most also have a spa. Families of 4 who want plenty of space often choose a villa and don't use all the bedrooms. If any are still available June you might get a late deal!

2-3 feet in the shallow end (which has a ledge type bench you can sit on) to 5 feet deep in the deep end.

Thanks for the info!

I'm in the process of arranging a trip for Thanksgiving week right now (US/IOA and Sea World). I'm leaning toward Vista Cay (due to location) but only IF I can find a great deal. Otherwise, I'll be checking on Windsor Hills too (along with CPGV). Having the pool would be nice, and I actually like the idea of the smaller pool, because I'm hoping the the pool heat will be less expensive than the full size pools. We don't swim a lot, and there will only be 4 of us.

I don't really like the 3BR/3BA townhouses at VC, because they're 3 stories tall (prefer WH's 2 story). While I like that they have a garage, I don't particularly like having to climb to the 3rd floor every time I get ready to go to the BR for something.

Thanks again!
