Windsor Hills Question

We will be staying at a condo here in a few weeks and I was wondering what "things" we need to bring. ..... trash bags, paper products, etc. This is our first time renting a condo.

Helpful suggestions would be so welcome.

This varies somewhat from one owner to another. The two times we've stayed at WH, we rented thru a group of owners who all advertise and book their units thru the same website. Even so, there were some differences in what was in each condo.

I think all owners are supposed to make sure the guest has a starter supply of toilet paper, paper towels, and trash bags. Possibly dish soap too. But if you are staying more than a couple nights, you'll probably have to buy more of some supplies. It's really hard to say tho. The first unit we rented had plenty of trash bags, some cleaning supplies in the kitchen, and even laundry supplies. The second unit had the trash bags and I think maybe some cleaning spray - but not as much as the first unit. And there were no laundry supplies in the second unit.

What we plan to do for our next trip is to check out the supply situation after we've unloaded the car and then make our grocery run. We'll pick up whatever we need in the way of paper products and such then.

Yep, I concur.

We are just back from a house rental in WH. I think that it varies because guests tend to leave supplies, so the situation so to speak is always changing.
This trip, the only thing we had to buy right away was laundry detergent and coffee filters. There was actually enough toilet tissue in the pantry to last 8 people in the house a week.

Check in and then go shopping.

Just throwing my hat into the ring to support the above posters. We were in a 3 bedroom Condo at WH and decided to wait upon arrival to make our list and got it the first day.

Our unit had 2 rolls of toilet paper for each bathroom, one dishwasher gel pack, small dish soap, and one package for one load of laundry.

One other note was our unit had a good supply of towels of various sizes, we had brought some of our own and definitely did not have to use them.

Just thought I would add something that I put in a similar thread. Before you make your shopping trip, you might also want to check things like towels, dishes, hangers, and kitchen utensils. One unit we've stayed in was kinda low on those items. We had to wash towels and bathcloths every couple days to keep enough clean for everybody. The only hangers were in the master bedroom closet and there weren't nearly enough for all of us to hang up our clothes. The set of dishes was not complete - maybe some had been broken and not reported. Whatever the cause, we had to wash dishes more than we'd anticipated. All of this got to be rather time-consuming and cut into park time. (Don't get me wrong, we'd probably still rent this unit again. We probably just happened to stay there when it was about due for an inspection and resupply by the owners.)

So next time we plan to check the place top to bottom and buy whatever we need to make our stay comfortable. I'd rather spend a few bucks on paper plates or invest in a few towels than be inconvenienced by having to do so much housework while I'm on vacation. We've learned that this is just part of a self-catering vacation and budget accordingly. We're still saving a huge amount compared to what it would cost to stay on site and getting a lot more space and comfort for the money. So we're okay with that.

We've stayed at Windsor Palms and Windsor Hills. All depends on the owner and the management company. I bring a few plastic garbage bags, paper towels soaked in dish detergent and a few dishwasher gel packs and kleenex. Also some tide single packages. We arrived super late at night (like 1:00 in the am) and I brought a couple of rolls of tp in my suitcase just in case. After such a late flight, who wants to go shopping? Thank goodness SW lets bags fly free! More room for souvenirs going home!

As everyone has indicated, starter supplies in a rental can vary, but one thing we have seldom found on arrival is a box of tissue. Someone in our party ALWAYS has a drippy nose, so I make sure to toss a couple boxes in my suitcase.

My packing strategy is to take as many lightweight, consumable products along as there is space for in my bag. It prevents things from shifting and I can do a little shopping and know that I've got some room in the suitcase. I like to wrap things in clean plastic grocery bags, as well, which provide some leak/rain protection (if you have ever watched suitcases sitting on an airport tarmack in a rainstorm, you will understand that!) These can double as trash bags. I actually have dollar store packs of cone & basket-style coffee filters which just stay in my suitcase, and usually take along a small amount of my fave coffee so I am ready for the first morning.

Fabric softener sheets are another must for us. They weigh nothing, take no space, so bringing along a week's supply from our mega-packs at home beats purchasing a small box!

Enjoy your trip...once we discovered vacation rentals (have done condos, townhouses, and larger homes) we can't ever imagine a hotel again!
