Windsor Hills-please help with this rental!

Hi-we are considering renting this villa and got a pretty good deal through the "special" offer and have paid the deposit. After checking out some other posters concerns I am a little nervous that I have no way to check this because the usual methods (tax records, etc) don't work because the person I have been talking to (Amy Sun) does not come up with anything. Should I be worried or is it possibly in someone else's name? She is very nice and responsive to the emails and I had to change houses due to a last minute booking on the house I was originally looking at. I guess I figure if I was being scammed they would just take my money and not worry about being booked-or this is part of the plan to make it more believable!

Have you signed a contract with the owner? If so, does the contract have the property street address? You can look the house up on the tax records from the property street address to see if the name matches the one that the owner is using.

Do the owners live in New Jersey- in which case I have found them so will pm you the info .

I am not sure where they live as all correspondence has been through email. However, there is a phone # on the site that when I looked up on the reverse phone directory was for an insurance place in NJ so it is possible that is where they live. If you have the info that would be great!

You could call the office at Windsor Hills to check out if she is the owner of the Villa. We have stayed at Windsor Hills and the people in the office are very nice.

I'm going ahead with my rental. I've only had e-mail contact with Amy but it has been fine. She wasn't super fast getting me the rental agreement either. I did confirm she is the owner of the 3 houses on the website in the first post and there are no outstanding taxes.

Remember that the vast (vast) majority of these transactions go off without a hitch. While it is good to do your due diligence, I confess I never checked tax records, but instead have always gone with my gut feeling based on the quality of interactions (usually email) with the owners.

We just found Amy Sun's home for a December rental and were nervous as well. I see this thread is a few weeks old. Has anyone finalized/completed their rental dates with Amy? Did everything go ok as planned? Thanks for your help everyone!

Just got back from a week at her 7758 Tosteth (Windsor Hills) property. Everything was as advertised. No problems whatsoever. I will try to remember to post again when I get the deposit back.

Can someone tell me how/where to check the tax records? I have a reservation in February (not with Amy Sun) and I didn't do that step. Now I'm worried. I just went from reviews .... I hope it's OK.

Is there a place to check the authenticity of the owners? I never thought of BBB. Ohhhhh.... I'm a little mad at myself. Just assuming that I was dealing with decent people (and I probably am... ) but I should have been sure.
