Windsor Hills or Emerald Island Resort

Currently am planning to stay in a pool home at Emerald Island in May 2014. I have never stayed in a vacation home, and all my information has been found on-line. The house I have booked seems to have everything we want, including location. My dilemma is that many people talk about how nice Windsor Hills is.
Is there a big difference in the two resorts? I think I picked EI because it seemed to have more privacy (larger house and more room between houses). Will I be disappointed with Ei?
Comments, please.

We've stayed at both a number of times and they're both good. When we stay in a pool home we don't use the community pool and don't have time for many activities at the clubhouse. If I was staying in a condo then maybe I'd pick WH because of the big community pool but our grandkids prefer "their own pool" at the house. So I don't think you'll be disappointed unless you plan to use the community facilities a lot. Emerald Island has nicer landscaping and a beautiful entrance area.

I have stayed at both and agree with pp, if you have a villa and private pool it's all down to the individual property as you won't use he communal pool :)

We've stayed at both. We have young children (7 and 3) so I prefer Windsor Hills for now because the pool is awesome for smaller kids (shallow beach entry) plus the splash pad and slide. Outside of that... I think both are very nice

we've stayed at both and the house at Emerald Island is our favorite. The house we rented had an awesome game room so we didn't need to pay for anything at the club house, also had pool heat and grill propane included. we'll go back there on next trip it was great!

We've stayed in all of the above and if you look at a map you will see that the distance to Emerald Island on Funie Steed Rd and the distance to Indian Creek on Formosa Gardens Blvd is about the same so when you leave either one you get to that intersection the same time. The difference in the distance from either one to Disney isn't worth mentioning.

Have you looked into Indian Creek...it is about 3/4 mile downt he road from Windsor Hills. We have stayed at IC and WH but nixed EI due to the drive times to the parks.
We prefer Indian Creek as timewise it is a closer drive to the parks.

We have stayed in Michel's homes 3X and loved it!

We stayed at EI and it's not far at all from the parks. It's a super easy drive and we loved staying there. :thumbsup2

I was just going by what my friend told me. She has stayed at both and said EI took an extra 10 minutes...sorry!

As another poster pointed out, Emerald Island is essentially the same distance from the parks as Indian Creek, so I have to take issue with that logic. Windsor Hills is a few minutes closer, but it's not a big difference.

We've only stayed at Indian Creek, but I've driven past both Windsor Hills and Emerald Island. We were happy with Indian Creek, but if you are looking for a vacation/resort feeling, you won't really find that there. WH and EI both have more of a resort feel. IC feels more like a regular neighborhood and doesn't feel as upscale.

According to what I see on google maps,
Emerald Island to DHS - 15 mins
Indian Creek to DHS - 12 mins
Windsor Hills to DHS - 10 mins

So I guess EI is a little further, but not much
