We MAY be driving from Toronto, Canada to Orlando in May. This will be a very last minute trip due to work/home responsibilities. It will basically be pack up the van and leave!

We would like to stay in a 3 bed/2 bath condo at Windsor Hills. Are there any companies that you can just walk-in and book a place when you arrive in Kissimmee?

Thanks!:hourglass

Short answer, no! You definitely want to reserve a place prior to arrival!! Windsor Hills is getting to be very booked up and popular, and the area is quite busy this spring, while you should still be able to find a place in Windsor Hills, it's not run like a hotel where you can just show up and expect to find a place when you arrive. It's all bookings by owner, or bookings through local management companies in the area. Most of the MCs don't operate "short term" like this...they might be able to accomodate you, but this is definitely not how they normally operate either, they expect guests to make reservations and arrangements well in advance of arrival.

Your best bet...visit:
www.windsorhillsrent.com and book a place for the dates you will be here!

If not, you can try one of the large MCs.

There is no "front desk" or reservations in Windsor Hills at all, so if you just show up, you're going to have to first find an MC, then hope they have something open in the resort, somehow make arrangements on the spot, and then check in ....definitely NOT the way to do this! You're far better off going direct from an owner and picking the place you want to stay in in advance...or doing the same through a MC.

You could call an owner or a MC a day before you leave and get reservations still and pay with a credit card, just don't show up and expect to find something, you might be sleeping in that van! LOL

George has pretty much got you covered:thumbsup2

I'll pop your question down to the other Board for some more suggestions on walk in availability elsewhere:)

Have fun!!

Thanks for the info.

2 more questions.

How busy is it in May at Windsor Hills? We've stayed at Windsor Palms at the same time and it is fairly quiet.

We like to spend the day at the parks and swim at night. How late is the clubhouse pool open? Is it busy at night?

Well we were there the last 2 Mays actually...and it was empty. But...that was before people really knew it was even there, it's since getting to be a LOT more popular and well known. It really depends on what part of May you go...if you go Memorial Day weekend it will be more crowded, big US holiday.

Mid-May is much less crowded because school still isn't out for the summer, but I don't mean completely empty either, it's still pretty popular.

The pool is open until 10pm every night... 8am-10pm are the pool hours.

Of course if you rent a pool home or a townhome with a pool, you will have your own pool and can swim any time you want! This is actually more fun for us at night than moving over to the clubhouse pool, we swim at night all the time, and it's a lot easier to do it in our townhome pool than having to trudge over to the clubhouse.
