I have found a townhome in Windsor Hills for our upcoming vacation and am jsut wanting to see if anyone has had any experience with the owner. His name is Paul Whipple...the townhouse is managed by IPG Vacation Homes. Just wanting to make sure all is well. I have checked the Osceola County tax site and have statements from the WH HOA - all that checks out. With all that, do you feel that I am OK to send him my deposit and go forward with the rental? It's just a bit scary to send a stranger my $; but I know the trust factor goes both ways, he is letting us rent his home.

TIA,
cathy

Hi Cathy,

I'm sure if he checks out plus has a reputable management company you will be fine. If concerned pay with a charge card, it will give you extra protections. Have a lovely vacation...Windsor Hills is wonderful!

My husband and I rented a week from Paul January (09) and everything was fine. He was very personable and answered any questions we had via email and on the phone.

It was 11 months ago though, but we probably wouldn't hesitate renting from him again...:thumbsup2

We rented from an owner that used IPG and everything was fine. The couple that managed the house lived in Windsor Hills.

Oh how weird. We're renting from him in May 2010. I have been in touch with Paul quite a few times about questions we had (as recent as yesterday) and he has been so pleasant and helpful. I also checked everything out with his home as well. I feel VERY comfortable with him :thumbsup2

When are you staying there? We have six months to go... too long to wait!! ;)

BEth,

We are going Feb 6-13, 2010. His place looks very nice. I am glad you found him too.

We had it narrowed down to about 6 homes, and it really came down to the feel of his home by seeing the pics (my son picked this one over some of the others because he liked the kid's room :wizard:) and I felt very comfortable talking with him. We have to wait until May, so I hope you post your review when you come home :goodvibes

So Cathy, how was your stay at Paul's townhouse? We're getting closer to ours and I'm excited to hear some recent first-hand experience :goodvibes

:):):) I was able to retrieve the post!!! Here it is!

Hi Beth!

Sorry for not posting this earlier - I just havent made it back to reality yet ;)

Paul's townhouse was wonderful! I didnt really take photos of it, but it was 100% accuratly represented on his website. (the pictures on the website look a bit stretched - if that makes sense; the rooms arent as large as the look, but still plenty of space). The Kitchen had all you could want - if there is something specific you are wondering about let me know, but basically everything from a colander to a cutting board. The bathrooms do come with a roll of toilet paper each, but it is a very small roll - my suggestion is to bring (or purchase) additional. The master bedroom has a alarm clock, but the other two bedrooms are without. Each bedroom had a ceiling fan, TV and DVD player. There is an ample supply of towels, and extra bed linens. There is a washer & dryer - which I used with no problems. A playstation game system is provided and there were 3 family friendly games for it. (Lego Starwars was one) The dining room table seats 6. THe living room has a sofa, loveseat and a chair. There were atleast 3 hairdryers that I noticed (2 under the master bath cabinet and one in the twin bedroom bath...I didnt check the other bath). The pool was about 12' x 12' or so about 4'-4-1/2' deep. It has a few "seats" around it - kind of like an oversized hottub (ish). We paid for the pool heat (and oh boy did we use it!) The management company had it preset for us, but Paul had sent directions on how to adjust it if we wanted to. We turned it up and it was too hot!! The continually adjusted it until it got back to comfortable (which is basically right where it was preset at). I would say most of our time in the pool was just as an after the park, evening relax time. There is a small concrete deck around the pool (probably 18" each side) {I can e-mail you a picture of it if you want - I cant remember how to post pictures here}

The management company was easy to find - it is about 6-7 miles away. It is on 192 directly accross from the second Publix you pass after Windsor Hills. They were very friendly and the check in process took about 5 minutes. No checkout was required - just lock the door and leave. I didnt see anywhere how to handle towels, linens, etc at checkout so we jsut gathered the towels and put them by the washer and left the beds unmade. We havent heard that was wrong, so I would say no action was really required on our part. We also ran the dishwasher before leaving.

The location of the townhouse was good. It was very quiet. This will make sense when you get there, but after entering the community, you will turn left at the first street, then right, then RIGHT (even if the security guard tells you left, right, left) ...this is important because most of the street is to the left, but Paul's unit and 2 or 3 others are to the RIGHT. The driveway is large enough for one car, but there is additional parking accross from the townhouse.

I guess I have rambled on on my review of the townhouse, but I wanted to cover it all. Please feel free to ask me if you have any questions. I could have left something important off :) My review is excellent and I would stay there again.

Take care,
Cathy

Thank you SO much for your detailed response! I am so glad you had a wonderful experience :goodvibes The things like how large the rooms and pool area are I knew already from staying at another townhouse around the corner last year (they are the same size/layout). I also Google-mapped Paul's townhouse location, so I know right where you are talking when you give the directions, so it's nice to know I'm looking at the right place on the map. :thumbsup2

Did they have ample cooking items? I see in the pictures, they have a toaster and a coffee maker, correct? Do they happen to have an electric flat griddle (pancake griddle)? That is so useful when cooking breakfast for 6 people. If not, we will have to bring one (we're driving).

I know what you mean about not being back to reality yet, that's how I always feel when we come back. Thanks for taking the time to respond though! :)

Yes, there was a toaster & coffee maker - I dont recall seeing a griddle though.

Does this townhouse have a disney themed bedroom for the kids?

It does - there is a room with two twin beds in it - both have Mickey Mouse bedding. There are pictures of a variety of characters in the bedroom as well and in the adjoining bathroom.

It is just enough.

Thanks for the links! That place looks great except that there are no curtains in the kids bedroom...which means mine would be up at the crack of dawn and grumpy too! My kids need curtains.:goodvibes

There are blinds in the bedrooms. My DD (5) is an early riser at home, but I had to wake her up everyday while at WDW. She was so tired that the morning sun didnt bother her. ;)
