I am looking at the final checkout where it asks if I would like a heated pool, late check out, etc......

There is a charge that says D-250 for $250.

I thought maybe that was a pet fee but it says very clearly NO PETS, so I am confused.

Any ideas what it could be?

Dawn

Well, I mean it could be that you are meant to check it, but I would think they would add it automatically in that case.

I didn't check it, but I am just curious!

huh?! Lol, then don't? Sorry for throwing out an obvious possibility.

Who are you renting through? I would call to find out what that dollar amount is specifically for. We rented a Windsor Hills condo through Florida Sun Vacation Homes and other than the daily rate and taxes the only other fee was a $30 insurance waiver and $80 cleaning fee. The deposit we paid went towards our total balance and there wasn't any type of separate security deposit or hold or anything like that. Maybe that $250 is a deposit amount needed to hold your reservation? If so, I assume it would go towards your reservation total. I would definitely call and find out to be sure.

Cleaning and all fees are included. This is an additional fee and you don't have to add it. I was just wondering what it could be. It isn't really that important. I just thought maybe someone would know.

We looked into renting from this company and it sounds like it is the deposit amount needed to hold your reservation and it would be deducted from your total balance. I would call or email Dave Robinson to be sure. We didn't rent through them because their Sat-Sat reservation policy didn't work for us. Good luck.

The one I rented did NOT say Sat-Sat. There were three available. Two said Sat-Sat only. The one I booked didn't say that.

I am waiting for full confirmation though and if that is required I will have to find another place. We are going on a Fri and leaving the following Sunday.

Huh, so maybe I could have just paid the deposit now and the rest later? Oh well, I put in to pay all. We go in 2 weeks anyway.

Is that the dog fee? I know they charge $250 for bringing a pet to the ones that allow it.

Well, it doesn't matter anyway.....they rejected my reservation. This particular listing does NOT say Sat-Sat like the others do, but the rejection said they only book Sat-Sat.

Then why the heck did the reservations even let me book it Fri-Sun (9 nights?)

This is why I am not using SkyAUction this time around.

UGH.

I would book directly through Homeaway, VRBO, trip advisor, etc. Most owners are very willing to rent for shorter terms and also don't care what day you check in/out.

I must be missing something. That site looks like you need to email each ind. owner privately and wait for them to respond to you request for dates and prices.

Surely there is a way to plug in dates and have those units that are available pop up.

Dawn

Hi Dawn - you could take the middle man out of the equation and book direct from an owner at Windsor Hills. Good selection of properties on here:

I have been looking at those too.

I just thought I was DONE and didn't need to look anymore.

Will have to spend this afternoon looking again.

I have been busy all Fri and Sat with no time to do anything on the computer.

Thanks,

Dawn

Dawn did you rent a townhome?

I'm coming November 05 with 19 day return. we are 5 members and we are looking for a home ... Unfortunately the politics of Dave Robinson also does not apply to my dates. My request was denied. somebody can indicate a home?

Why don't you put in an inquiry on the windsorhillsrent.com site. Put your dates in the boxes at the left and you'll receive quotes from owners. Try to be as specific as possible as to whether you're looking for a condo, townhouse or pool home. You may get a good last minute deal.

It may be better to try other sites, but you still may find that renting from Dave will work. It's true he only rents Sat-Sat, but those weeks are currently $299+cleaning+tax, so pretty cheap. If you rent starting on Nov 2 but don't actually show up at the house until Nov 5, he doesn't care. Just a thought...

I have not yet. Still looking.

We are considering changing our dates though. Dh thinks he can take off a few more days, so we could make some Sat-Sat bookings.

Still working on it.

Dawn -
I know you are still looking, I just wanted to answer your original question because I had the same one. That funky D-$250 just refers to a $250 deposit and is not an additional charge. If you continue to the next page where it tells you how much you own total it is just the original amount.
