Window units or Central Air in Pop Century?

If you know what your triggers are, tell "special requests" when you book. Making a note on the reservation by the regular CM is not enough. You need to have them call over to Special requests. Explain to SR what you need to have special attention paid to.

Livndisney: Just called the 407- number for ressies & the CM said there was a note in our ressie & that calling over to SR was not necessary--what would you do? Is there a way to contact SR directly?

Did you call this number? Special Reservations Line: (407) 939-7807
This is the number for making all types of special needs reservations - rooms and tours.

I need to write it down, but it always faster for me to find it in Sue's sticky.:thumbsup2

It seems that I may have been wrong about the central air. I just assumed that, because the control was on the wall (by the door) that it was central air. The window units with which I am familiar have the controls on the unit itself, which is why I made the assumption.

Crashbb, I make the same assumption. Apparently, so do the reservation people? My husband called and asked them and they said it was "central air." Maybe it is? Either way, if it's a wall unit, it's still gotta be better than a window unit which brings in air from the outside and filters it through that one unit, right? I really don't know much about air conditioning systems...

I'm also glad to hear others appreciate the post and I'm not the only one who worries about this stuff!

I am praying and hoping and will do my best to stay allergy free while I am there (I had a crazy idea of putting down a painter's plastic sheet on the carpet in the room just to keep dust mite and mildew away :rotfl: ) Yep, the fear of severe allergies and asthma gives me crazy thoughts like that.

Thanks again, everyone. The DIS is a great place for info!

Update: we had a great time at Pop Century! We requested special cleaning and they did have it marked on our reservation at the front desk, but the front desk person could "not guarantee" that everything had been completed because housekeeping had already left for the day. We requested a top floor and were on the 4th floor in the 70's section, a room facing the lake. This was quiet and just great! We requested no linens because we took our own and the linens were still on the beds. No problem; we just took them off and moved them to the corner of the room. We requested to have the air filter changed and it had NOT been (although the air filter door had been left open). We called the front desk and my husband asked if he could be directed to a place where we could purchase a filter and if it would be okay if we could install/change it ourselves. (Although we are thankful and grateful for the VIP service, we know that it is an extra request for our individual needs so we tried to be courteous and did not make demands. We simply asked for assistance.) The front desk person right away sent a maintenance worker to change the air filter. It was about 11:30 pm when he came in and he was very kind. I tipped him $5.00. I took my Clorox wipes and wiped down everthing. I covered the mattresses in plastic (painter's plastic sheets) and put my own linens over the plastic. This worked out great. Then we covered the carpet in thicker painter's plastic that we found on sale in Target. We cut and taped it with blue painter's tape. I slept with my "I can breathe" silk mask that I ordered from an allergy products company online. The mask was comfy and fantastic. I took no chances! We stayed 5 nights and every morning I could breathe wonderfully. No stuffy noses. Thanked God the entire time. We had a great time! Still daydreaming about it! Pop Century is beautiful. The air is "central" in that the unit is inside the wall. Much better than a window unit, I think. So happy we stayed there! I would recommend this resort to everyone. I would also recommend the "I can breathe" mask to anyone with allergies if you're staying in a hotel overnight. I am very sensitive and I really think the mask helped! :cloud9:

Thanks for the update.
Glad to hear things worked out, even if it was not quite right.

Absolutely! The room was very, very nice. The carpet was great and the bedding was also. My husband and daughter would have been fantastic without any "coverings". Maybe me too...I just overplan. ;) :flower3:
