DD thinks it would be fun to set something up in our window sill with her fave build a bear and one of her american girl dolls. Her BAB I am not worried about, as she has had him for 6 years and not something someone would want to steal - he is a bit on the tattered side. But we all know what an AG doll costs - and that IS something worth stealing. Is she safe in the window, or for that matter, even in the room while we are gone? I know that 99% of the mousekeepers are honest ladies, but there is always the 1% that have helped themselves to ipods, laptops,etc.... I have had things stolen from hotel rooms (not Disney) in the past, and its hard to prove and hard to get resolved.
DD really wants to bring one of her AG dolls, but I am concerned of the safety of having her stolen from the room. She won't fit in the safe, and I guess we can hide her, but she really wants to get her a princess dress and put her in the window.

Thoughts?

I would recommend not taking anything valuable on vacation. Things can happen at the airport, hotel etc. It's not just the housekeepers you have to watch.

I would nto bring anything that special to her along. Too many opportunities for loss/damage while traveling.
Also, though th ehousekeepers are honest, they often leave several doors blocked in an open position while cleaning/servicing a group of rooms - not just at DW, everywhere - and others can slip into your room.
Also, anything left in a window in FL on sunny days tends to fade quite a bit from the sun even after only a few days.

I agree...our family rule is, no toys come with us. You don't need toys at Disney! (Blankies that they need to sleep with at night are fine, so are books to read on the plane.) But I would leave the American Girl doll home.

There will be plenty to see and do at Disney without having to bring toys from home! Then you can leave for the parks and not worry about it.

I wouldn't say no toys, but I would say no expensive toys or toys that would cause a big problem if they are lost or stolen. There have been way too many threads about unhappy kids who have lost toys (a lot in the sheets of the bed) and they never get them back. Maybe the toy could go on a "vacation" to a friend or relative's house while you're on the trip, instead of coming to Disney World?

I wouldn't either they can get mixed up in the sheet and towles and so forth as well.

maybe you could take her BaB and then get her a small stuffed one there to put in the window to welcome her back to the room.

DD wanted to bring her newest AG doll but I wouldn't let her. I agree with other posters that it should stay home.
Both kids had been saving their money and I knew they would find things at Disney to purchase. I didn't want to be taking their toys from home there and back as well.

One day when we got back to resort. We noticed Mousekeeping set up all their new disney stuffed animals/pillow/characters they purchased while at Disney in the window as if they were waiting for us to come back. It was really cute.
