Hello,
My family is looking in to renting a home in Windor Hills. For this vacation, we're planning to still spend some time at Disney as well as Universal and SeaWorld, and otherwise just relaxing for a change of pace :goodvibes

From what I have researched so far, Windor Hills seems to offer everything we're looking for in a larger rental home (there will be 12 - 15 of us). The community pool with slide, playground and gamerooms look great for the kids. The location also seems good in proximity to the parks for the limited visits we do plan.

Now to my questions !

We've never rented a vacation home before. I'm doing a lot of online research. I need some tips, tricks, suggestions please :thumbsup2.

Keep in mind we're pretty certain we want to stay at Windor Hills (not to be confused with Windor Palms) because of the main pool area is a big draw.

Looking forward to some helpful input !
Thanks :)

We stayed in a condo last year at WH not a house, so we used to community pool. It was OK. The depth was nice for the smaller kids and there was a zero entry area.
My older 2, ages 9 & 6 at the time of the trip didn't like the slide. It didn't 'shoot' you out and sometimes they got stuck. Now I don't remember if there was water on the slide or if it wasn't working or what the deal was when we were there, but that was a bummer for them.
We didn't visit the community game area either, we were too busy at the parks.
I think with whatever you pick you will be happy. The drive to the parks from WH is nice and short.

We loved it and so did the boys. 10 months and 2.5 at the time. (although Cullen was a bit disappointed he couldn't use the slide as it had a height or age restriction (can't remember which)

We found the drive to Seaworld, Discovery Cove and Disney parks very easy and I am a rubbish navigator.

We liked that it was a gated community it felt safe, clean and well looked after and nice and quiet.

We stayed in a condo there are few pics in my trip report linked at the bottom of my signature.

We certainly wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, I now just need to save the money to get me there from the UK.

Thank you for your reply Sarah ! The info about the pool slide is something we'll have to consider at this rental community. I hate to have to make a decision on a place based on that; but it's a big part of the entertainment value that needs to be considered (based on the kids loving pool slides!).

Hi Kirsten
Thanks for the info ! We've stayed onsite the past couple of trips; but are hoping to find something where we can all stay together this trip (me, DH, DD, SIL & BIL & family, and MIL & FIL). I know this will be a less expensive option than staying onsite, but I can still appreciate your comment about needing to save the money - I'll only go if I can pay cash!

We've stayed at WH a few times and love it. There is a 48 inch height requirement on the slide and the attendant is quite strict.
My son, an adult, thought that the slide was very fast and everyone I've seen use it flies out of the end of it.

We stayed at a WH condo two years ago and we are staying there (in a house) this Christmas. By the way most if not all of the houses have a small pool/hot tub. My only real suggestion (we always rent condos or houses anywhere we go vs. hotels) is to do a lot of research and look at every property there. I usually go through VRBO for our vacation rentals-but for WH I like to go to the main site-something like windsorhillsrent . com and search by size of home. Then I click on the link to each homeowners individual website. If they don’t have a website I don’t even consider them. At each owners personal website you can find the rates, availability, list of household items supplied (like baby items), and lots of photos. I prefer to deal with the owner vs. a management company-as I find the properties to be nicer. The rates are all over the place too. I found very nice 6 bedroom homes for our stay ranging from 1475-almost 3000.

Hey there! We are staying at Windsor Hills in March 2010 and we also have a larger group. The house we are renting is perfect because it has themed rooms, game room, internet, private pool, 6beds 4 baths, crib, strollers and soooo much more. And it's about $125 a day. The owners are very very nice and helpful. They are listed on a couple of sites as well as their own website, facebook, and twitter. If you have anymore questions just let me know.

We have stayed at Windsor Hills the last two years and have been more than pleased! The houses are beautiful, large and well appointed! The drive to Disney is short (and outlets are nearby too!) Would not hesitate to book again! Enjoy every minute!!! We used All Star Vacation Homes.

Thanks Wanda ! It sounds like they had the slide working better when you were there.

Hi - thanks for the feedback. I've submitted a query through windsorhillsrent.com and received a ton of responses already. I've also searched thru VRBO and some other sites; the prices do seem to vary, but I'm willing to pay a little more to ensure I work with a reputable owner/company.

Thank you Hope! I think one of the replies I rec'd to my query through windsor hills site was for that particular villa. I don't think it was that great rate however - I'll have to ask them about it ;)

Oh dear I am such an idiot! I should of put $225 a day not $125 a day. I guess my subconscious was wishing it was $125 a day and took over :rotfl: But $225 a day is still not that bad considering our group is splitting the total cost 4 ways. Sorry about that.

Whew, you almost gave me a heart attack! As a fellow owner, I'm thinking, whoa what are they thinking - they might as well just give it away!! :rotfl:

Maybe I'll pretend I didn't read this and still tell some owners "someone" told me they paid $125/night ;) to try to get a bargain.

Seriously, thanks for clarifying thou. :)
