Wind at MK

We have Disney after hours on Thursday night and it looks like it might be pretty windy. Are there any rides that won’t be running because of wind?

The only thing I've ever seen cancelled or affected by wind (other than by, well, a hurricane) at WDW was the Tapestry of Nations parade at Epcot in the early 00s.

And Characters in Flight at Disney Springs

I think AstroOrbiter can be closed if the winds get high enough. We rarely ride this as I fail to see the appeal of this particular ride but we venture up there every few trips just to say we did. Once it was windy and I could have sworn they kept warning us that the ride would have to stop if winds reached X. It never did and we rode. Or I may be mixing it up with another ride out in DCA, where they too have some issues with wind and rides that close if it gets too high.

If AstroOrbiter closes due to wind when you are there, consider it Mother Nature doing you a favor. :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

(I kid, I kid...)
Lol we have never done it before and I thought maybe we would try it for dah but it’ll depend on how much we have already gotten done.

It won't affect your evening but last summer during the afternoon parade we noticed a woman walking a bit in front of the Maleficent dragon "float" (the one that breathes fire) holding up a box of some kind. It was kind of windy that day and it appeared that she was testing wind speeds to see if it was safe to have the dragon breathe fire. It hadn't occurred to me that it was necessary to do that until we saw it, but it makes sense.

I think they have a problem with that at universal, too. The dragon on the bank has trouble working if it’s super windy.

I've seen plenty of rides closed for lightning, but don't recall any closed for (ordinary) wind (short of hurricanes).

One thing that does come to mind when thinking WDW+windy is Fantasmic's water jets blowing water onto guests. While the ROL's water jets are better situated away from the audience, wind could maybe impact those as well.

The other thing potentially that comes to mind is the WDW watercraft. If winds are high enough to create a small craft advisory, then the smaller (and medium) boats might stop running. I can't say how WDW makes their determinations, but I've been at WDW on days when they closed the small rental boats, and even the medium shuttle boats.

I could also see high wind = no water parade if small craft warning.
