I posted the following on the Tech Board but know that some savvy people hang out at the CB too so here goes:

I run Windows 2000.

Recently, upon starting up my machine and logging in...I get two messages:

One which states something about my profile being unable to load and that it may be due to some corruption. Contact Admin...

The next which says that I'll be logged in with a temp profile and any changes I make to that will be lost when I log off.

My favorites, my preferences for the different software I run are all gone.

I've done a google search on this topic and haven't found a resolution yet...any advice out there? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Oh....Microsoft has some sort of response to this issue...attempted their fix...didn't work. (What a surprise! )

Thanks.:)

Maybe you're trying to log on with the wrong profile alias, Ethel.;)

I have no advice, just thought I'd say howdy.

Try logging in as someone who you know has admin privelages. Then you'll have to go to My Computer -> C:\ -> Documents & Settings -> (Your profile name) -> Favorites Copy your favorites to another location. You are going to have to delete you old profile if it's actually there since it's corrupt. Once the profile has been deleted from here, Close out of all the windows. Then Right click on My computer and select Properties. Click on the User Profiles tab and delete your profile from there. Now you need to create another account on here. If the machine isn't completely locked down, you can just log out and log in as you again. Otherwise you will have to get into the user manager and recreate an account with your name.

Unfortunately there is no way for you to recover your current profile. Something (or someone) has corrupted it.

I can check with DH when he gets out of his meeting (DH works for the above mentioned company), he had something like that happen on our laptop and ended up having to delete and start over. It was a pain in the bum!!

Thanks coqui & TB&EMom...I'll go ahead and delete the old profile and create a new one.

I'll check back in with the results.:)
