I have uploaded my home movies which are on 8mm and used Movie Maker to capture and edit. I saved it as AVI and tried to burn using Roxio/Sonic My DVD. I watched my DVD and it appears unclear and fuzzy. The photo slide shows are really clear but it is hard to make out faces and it appears to have some pixelling. I would love to know your thoughts..
Thanks.

I haven't used movie maker, but you want to keep your videos in MPEG2 DVD-complaint video - not save them to AVI. Chances are that Movie Maker, when it saved in AVI mode, made them small and low-quality in order to make a smaller AVI. Roxio then had to take that AVI and turn it back into MPEG2, and you can't get back the quality lost when converted to a smaller format.

AVI is just a "container" and can have better quality than mpeg2, but chances are that Movie Maker did lower the quality and is to blame. If it can save in DVD-compliant MPEG2, then it's fine - otherwise you'll want to use something else for editing. I thought MyDVD could do that?

Thanks for your response. I am sure Mydvd can do this but I found Movie Maker to be really easy to use. I like the fact that you can see clips of the video. I will try MYDVD aqnd see what happens. Thanks for replying..
