I recently received the Wilton Cookie Master Plus as a gift. My children and I were very excited to try it. We made the peanut butter cookie recipe included in the box. We could not get the cookies to drop from the press. It was very frustrating. Does anyone else have this cookie press? Anyone have advice?

make sure the dough is really chilled. That is my best tip it wont come out otherwise.

Did you take the press apart and see if its working properly?

I have one and will try to help but need a little more info :)

I used fresh batteries. It did seem to be working. The peanut butter dough was pretty stiff. When it did manage to push some through it would not drop. I was looking forward to making "pretty cookies" to impress. The cookies were not pretty at all. I did not chill the dough. I'll have to try that. Or maybe just a softer type of dough????

I have an electric one that has the various disks for making "pretty" cookies..

It's kind of hard to explain, but you hold the machine right down on the cookie sheet and press (and hold) the button while the dough is moving down the tube.. It took me awhile to get used to it, but when the time is just right, the machine "sounds" different.. Lift right away after that and you have a perfect cookie!

Oh - and I never use chilled dough - works better (at least with butter cookies) if the dough is NOT chilled..

I make cookie press cookies several times a week. Mine is not battery operated, but the idea is the same.

It usually will work best using a cool cookie sheet. The cookies don't like to stick when the pan is hot.

When you have pressed the cookie, instead of lifting straight up, try to tilt it to the side and then lift.

If you are using sprinkles on your cookies, sprinkle before you bake.

Let the cookies cool about 2 - 3 minutes before you lift them off the pan.

Favorite recipe:
1 box cake mix (I like duncan hines)
1 pound of butter (NOT margarine)
2 3/4 cup flour.

Mix all together. Press. Bake at 375. If you want chocolate cookies, use a chocolate cake mix. If you want strawberry cookies, use strawberry. If you want spice cookies, use a spice cake mix. Easy.

Sounds like a lot of butter in my recipe, but it makes SOOOOOOOOO many cookies!!

anyway, probably TMI, but I love making the cookies.

Enjoy!

I have a cookie press and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I never knew why. I was reading a recipe in the Penzeys spices catalog over the weekend and it said to be sure the dough is chilled, but not too chilled. I guess both are problems. Their advice was 30 minutes in the fridge...then put the dough in the press.

Good luck!
