My parents have a condo in Delray Beach and are there right now - I just hung up with them and want to make sure I am getting the whole story from them. They won't leave the area and insist that their building is safe and will evacuate to the stair wells when Wilma comes. Their building is probably 25 years old, 10 stories high, 10 units per floor and is right on the ocean.

They have the means and resources to leave now, drive North and get a hotel - but dad just won't listen he is 70yo very active, mom is 61 and also active. The condo association is having a meeting today to brief everyone. Any suggestions on what I should do? I would really appreciate some guidance from some Floridians on the actual situation down there. Thanks so much.

Delray Beach is on the East Coast of Florida on the Atlantic Ocean, right now the concern is the west coast on the gulf, I should think that if and it is a big IF it get to Delray beach at all all they will have is some wind and rain by the time it travels across the state it will have disapated greatly.

Since they are not in any danger for what the west coast is going to get. I would right now leave the hotel rooms for those that are going to have to leave.

Play it by ear but I think they should be fine, tell them to have flashlights and batteries can food and water .
