We are planning a trip to Williamsburg Va next summer and I was wondering if any of you had been to the area. I'm specifically interested in hotel information.

Thanks as always!

I would be happy to send you some brochures and travel information if you want to PM me with your address.

There are LOTS AND LOTS of hotels...I guess the newest one would be the Great Wolf Lodge. It has a cool indoor water park! But there is no shortage of places to stay around here! :)

Sure!!! (don't worry about the postage...I like the whole "pay-it-forward" idea! :)

Thanks to all of you. I have checked out that website, but am wondering if anyone has stayed at any properities that they liked or hated?

Stayed at the Powhattan Plantation and left after 4 days (was supposed to stay a week) because the place was nasty dirty, and the service horrendous.

We stayed at a place called Fairfield Williamsburg Patriot's Place. It was a very nice condo complex. I think we only paid $99 a night through hotels.co for the 1-bedroom condo with a queen pullout sofa. The ktichen was really small, but it was definitely a bargain. They had a very nice pool, and activities for the kids. I think it is a timeshare place, but since we booked it as a condo we never had to sit through a timeshare presentation.

It was about a 5 minute drive to Colonial Williamsburg and about 10 minute drive to Busch Gardens and Water Country USA.

I can highly recommend the Kingsmill Resort. We stayed there a couple of years ago for a week. It was fantastic. We had a one bedroom condo with a full kitchen, washer and dryer, etc. The resort is really beautiful with golf, indoor/outdoor pools, racquetball, spa, bikes, tennis, restaurants - everything you could want. It is very near Busch Gardens (they actually offer a shuttle) and a short drive to Colonial Williamsburg.. The only negative about our trip was the weather. We were there in July and it was brutally hot and humid. I have to say - never again. I love Williamsburg, but the next time we go it will be spring or fall - even winter would be better.

Has anyone ever stayed at the Embassy Suites?

Three words: GREAT WOLF LODGE. Whoever dreamed up the theming for this place has been to the WL it's obvious. A bit higher priced but worth every single dime. And this coming from someone who thinks a value resort is always the best choice because it's just a place to sleep.

We've stayed at the Embassy Suites in Williamsburg--very convenient location, easy to get into and out off. Located near a shopping center. Like all Embassy Suites, the indoor pool is a little small, and the center atrium makes for a noisy morning. The rooms were somewhat smaller than other ES I've stayed in--the bathroom is near the entrance, so you don't have the short hallway with microwave and fridge--instead it is in the entertainment center in the living room.

I agree with the previous poster who mentioned the humidity during the summer. We love Williamsburg, and find we never get everything done that we want to.

We also stayed at the Embassy Suites Williamsburg last summer (2004) and really enjoyed it. It was clean and safe. The rooms were a tad on the small side, but we really didn't spend that much time in them, so no big deal for us.
