We are interested in taking the family to Williamsburg, VA and would love a recommendation for a Time Share rental. We like a two-bedroom unit. We are DVC owners and like the quality of DVC, so I thought I would ask the experts! :)

I really like Marriott's Manor Club at Ford's Colony.
The original side (all 2br dedicated units in Colonial style buildings) is better (imo) than the newer sequel side (which includes lock-offs, and is a more traditional condo style).

Thank you! :)

We love Kings Creek Plantation because you get two floors. Upstairs bedrooms with baths and laundry. Downstairs LR has cathedral ceilings fireplace and open kitchen. Last itme we were there was 6 years ago and it was a little run down so you may want to check other posters. Its a great yet quiet location. Decent size pool. We have stayed there twice and would go back every other year if we could.

My sister is an owner at Kings Creek Plantation and they always enjoy staying there. There are three "sections" and what you get depends on availability. If you look at the Kings Creek website you can see the various floorplans. We haven't stayed there yet but are planning a trip next April.

If you are looking to use DVC points, only Kings Creek and Greensprings are available, and you have to book for a full week.

We've looked into Marriott's Manor Club since we usually stay at Marriott hotels, but it is more expensive. It does look like a nice property.

If you are looking for a steal try skyauction.com. I got a 2 bedroom through them for the $1 (my winning auction bid) plus the $149 tax and fee for a 7 night stay.

We also stayed at Ford's Manor Club. At that time you could use DVC points to get in, but I suspect that's gone now. We enjoyed our stay, finding the accommodations roomy and handsome.

We own at King's Creek and love it. The 2 bedroom units would either be the Estates (newest), The Townes, which are condo style with a sunroom which, for all practical purposes, serves as a 3rd br. The third kind would be the Cottages, the oldest and what we own. These are stand alone homes which would have a 1 br lock off unit attached. Most Cottage styles have the 2 br upstairs, but there is one style that has them downstairs. The 2 br Cottage would have 2.5 baths. They are VERY large and have been refurbished in the last couple of years.

Two more questions if you don't mind! :) Other than TUGS, where is a good place to find a rental? Also, any thoughts on thanksgiving in Williamsburg? That is a good time of year for us to travel, but we would probably go Tuesday to Sunday only if we did that time.
Thank you everyone!

I like to get timeshare condos through skyauction.com

I just did a search and Powhatan Plantation, Patriots Place, Kings Creek, Westgate, etc. All for steals!!!

Thank you everyone!

My sister and BIL spent Thanksgiving in Williamsburg last year and loved it. They had nice weather (can be iffy that time of year, but at least it won't be hot like June or August) and many restaurants had special Thanksgiving menus. I believe they ate at the Trellis restaurant.

Can't help with the rentals, sorry!

We live in Va and go to Wllbg all the time. April can be iffy--weather could be OK or rainy and cool. Thanksgiving is the same way---in can be rainy and yucky, or just really cold. End of June is usually good, of course hot and crowded. 3rd week of Aug. is much less crowded. Sometimes a tropical storm might be coming thru and it is hot. All of the above weather has been experienced by me 1st hand at Wllmbg!
Where I have stayed and liked: Governor's Green (decent units, good pool, very convenient), Greensprings (somewhat outdated decor, but very nice units, fabulous beds, great pools--very nice indoor pool, large jacuzzi, sauna---I would pick here for April or Nov b/c of the pools), and we have been in Fords Colony (a bit farther away from Old part of Wllmbg), but I am very partial to the Marriotts and would stay here, if the prices were the same as the others. Plus, MArriott will have kids' activities. However, Greensprings is similar quality to the Marriott, IMHO.
I have also stayed at Powhatan and Patriots Place--I would consider those only if the above were not possible.
If you wanted, you could probably easily transfer some of your DVC points to someone on TUG and work out a trade. There are a number of us TUG members who have other timeshares as well as DVc points.
Also, you can book many tours, etc. in advance at history.org. Elaine

My parent's own at Powhattan Plantation and they love it. DH and I have stayed there many many times and we love it too. It has a mini golf course on the grounds, an indoor and outdoor pool, is very close to all of the colonial sites and to Bush Garden's. I have gone to Williamsburg since I was a kid, it is such a beautiful area...you and your family are going to love it there.

The 2 within walking distance are the Westgate and BG option though neither are on DVC's exchange list I don't believe. The westgate also allows pets to some degree.

We stayed at Greensprings Resort a few years ago. It was very nice. As close to Disney as I've ever gotten. Good Luck.

I saw your post and popped in to tell you I would NOT recommend this place at all! We stayed here last year and it was the worst timeshare I have ever stayed in. The room was really outdated. The beds uncomfortable and the blankets yucky. Worst of all was the service. We called housekeeping and had to leave a message and NEVER got a call back. There were garbage bags of supplies dumped in the lobby of our building and not removed for 4 days.

We left a bag of gifts we intended to give to relatives for Christmas in the kitchen accidentally when we left. We called within an hour which was still very early in the morning and asked if they could please retirieve it and mail it to us at our cost. The answer was we can't send food (they were sealed cans of specialty chocolate covered peanuts.) We called again when we returned home (afternoon) and the front desk manager was nice and said she would send security over to get it and call us back. No call back. When we called again, she said they found nothing. (Someone stole it!) We left a message with the resort manager sometime in the middle of this and didn't receive a call back for several days. She was nice when she called and offered to go repurchase (at our cost of course) and send them to us. No thanks! That was handled really poorly and was not the only reason I say to steer clear of this place.
