Well.... I was so ahead of the game! I received a really nice stamp set over the summer as a gift and decided to make my own cards this year. DD and I spent an entire Sunday in November stamping and hand coloring and water coloring and cutting and matting these card components. Then a few weekends ago I spent another day mounting the components, attaching ribbon, putting my little personalized "handmade by" stickers on the back, addressing the envelopes, etc.

Last Tuesday I went to Ritz camera to get the photo I wanted to enclosed printed (5 cent prints on Tues and Wed).

Thursday night we were going to sit down as a family and sign the cards and they were going to be in the mail on Friday.

Well... we started decorating our tree on Thursday night and I forgot about the cards. Friday we woke up to an ice storm and no power. We spent the morning trying to keep the house warm and figuring out what to do next.

Anyhow, we decided Saturday morning to bug out to my Mom's until the power was on. It is now Tuesday morning and we are still at my Mom's, and there is still no power at home. And my STUPID christmas cards are sitting there in my cold house, unmailed! Why didn't I think to bring them here to my Mom's?? I could have done the signing for both DH and I and had the kids signed and had them in the mail yesterday.

So my cards that I DIDN'T procrastinate about are going to be barely on time any how!! I am so mad at myself!

So.... are your cards going to be on time??....................P

Mine will be going out tomorrow...it's up to the PO if it gets there ontime after that I guess....

I am going to try to get them out today. As Debbie said, it'll be up to the post office after that. So sorry that after all your hard work, they won't go out when you want them too!

well 1/2 of mine went out. like a dope i did not order enough and i'm trying to get jcpenny to give me an answer about the ones i did reorder!
so 1/2 are out and 1/2 are waiting. i really wish i could get them all out. i have them all addressed just waiting......:rolleyes1

I started addressing mine last night. I wrote our Christmas letter this morning and printed. Hoping to finish cards tomorrow and mail by Thurs.

Mine went out almost 2 weeks ago. I took the easy route though. Photo cards for us. No signing.

It's funny though. I just said to my DH the other day that we have hardly gotten any back. I wonder if people just aren't doing them this year because of the economy.

I really don't know. :confused3 I bought stamps and everything last year to get started and never did. then with DH's leaving and all that I havent had time. I "digi-scrapped" a card with the recent family photo with a border of pics from the year around it. even did the merry christmas blah blah blah on it. haha. So now I am waiting for them to be printed. then when they get here i will attempt to mat them and get them in an envie. If i find the time I will get them addressed and ready to go. :lmao: Hopefully by friday! along with everything else that needs to be done.:rolleyes1

I hope your power comes back soon. I know how not fun it is to pack up and move to your moms when theres no power and a million things waiting for you at home. :goodvibes

"Mine" went out last week. Dhs will be going out today. I had hoped he would write a little something in the ones that go to his family and coworkers like I did to my family, friends and our "joint friends." I gave up today and just stuck them in the envelopes without any personalization from him.

YIPPEE! mine were there went i went home to put dinner on! now they are all in the mail!

I'm making ours and I'm still waiting for the rest of my supplies! I so am NOT on the ball this year, but compared to the last two I'm still doing well! :-)

I took the easy way out and ordered the photo cards from JCPenney when I had the kids' Christmas pictures done. I figured they were dressed and getting their picture taken anyway, why put myself through the stress of trying to arrange some sort of photo shoot at home. Well worth the price! They won't be ready until Thursday, but I have all of the envelopes already addressed and ready to go. :thumbsup2

I also have noticed a decrease in the number of cards this year. Maybe people are just a little behind this year. I know I am!

Labels and Christmas Letter are printed, have the stamps, cards are ready.

Finished my last class for graduate school on MOnday, taking tonight off and writing cards tomorrow. will mail them on Thursday on the way to school.:thumbsup2

95% of them were mailed. I have a few I needed stamps for. DD was sick today so no post office run.

I took the easy route, too! When we took DS to have his Christmas pics made in November (the Wednesday before Thanksgiving), I ordered the cards. They were back by the next week, so I just addressed a few a night. Then, I did DH's work cards yesterday, but he takes them to work, so they don't have to be mailed! SIL also took a pic of the 3 of us that I thought was ok, so I used that one for some photo cards, too.

We have gotten very few this year, too. Like someone said, maybe people are just behind (I am SO behind!!).

I was just thinking this morning that I may start in January or February trying to make some for DH's work next year. It's usually roughly the same number of people, so I could have them made ahead of time!!

us too. not that many. i was thinking the same thing.

i always say this and never do. i'd probably forget that i made them or where i put them!!!!

:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao:

No, not this year. Perhaps next year. With all that is going on, I decided not to do Christmas cards or Christmas cookies. Maybe next year.:rolleyes1

I have never gotten Christmas cards out. My mom used to do cards for us but they were never on time. She started doing them and the letters in them for Valentine's Day instead of Christmas- that way she could make them over Christmas break. I sent Valentines cards to friends and family one year in college. I haven't sent out a Christmas card since I was married.

Last year I made them but this year I bought cards (85% off the day after Christmas) and so I took the easy route. They were all mailed on Dec. 8th. Next year I plan to make cards again and I'll have to start early if I want to get them out on time.

I agree with the PP who said they aren't getting many back. I mailed over 50 cards and have gotten less than 20 - I'm guessing it's the economy? I married into a family that never sent Christmas cards, so I'm sure some of DH's family are still shocked to be getting a card from us every year

nope, not gonna happen this year. With all that was going on with MIL something had to give and this was it. I still have the cards I made, lost, found and lost again from 2 years ago. Maybe next year. LOL
