As the Soccer World Cup 2006 will begin in less than a week here in Germany I'd like to know how many people here on the boards will watch.

I'll be watching for sure. I'm going to put the England flag up tomorrow at the front of the house. There are already loads of flags up in my neigbourhood! I can hardly wait! :teeth: :banana:

but I do have a horrid feeling it will go to brazil.... anyway, England flag is up at home and work! :)

Oh yeah! GO ENGLAND! :cool1::banana::cool1::banana:

Interesting all the people that have replied so far are British (We're not football crazy at all :blush: )

Edited to add: I bet you are excited Viking, there must be a great atmosphere in Germany! I can't wait until we next host the world cup :cheer2:

yes, but not from those choices.
I will watch some, no particular team....just when I have time.
But, DD is excited. ::yes::

DD will have the games on whenever possible. She lives and breathes soccer.

As Eric Cantona says "America, the world no longer looks forward to playing you." The US should do well. I will TiVO what I cannot watch.

Yes,
my country is already shivering with anticipation. Everything is now geared towards those crazy four weeks. Our team won its last test match yesterday: 3:0 against Colombia.
Here in Frankfurt we'll have an art event for the next three nights: several skyscrapers Downtown have been converted into huge silver screens. During a 30 minute-show scenes from soccer history will be projected onto those accompanied by classical music.
Our rigid shop hours are voided for the duration of the World Cup and all business can do as they please - If that is a success we may very well leave it that way.
Everybody hopes for a our team to play Brazil in the final match, but this time with us being the winner :teeth:

WOW! How cool!

I love the world cup and wish I was there.

Yep! DS 9YO as of yesterday, is currently living and breathing soccer, and we've been watching lots of the friendlies and tune-ups, as well as some MLS. Last week he even watched a Mexican league match on Telemundo (Spanish language network) just to watch them play. :rotfl:

We'll be watching as much as we can.

As someone who played soccer for about 10 years.... nope. Not watching even a second of it. I liked playing it but find it about as interesting as watching paint dry when watching on TV.

Oh yeah! DH works overseas, spending time in the UK and Africa. So go England and good luck Togo - first time ever at the World Cup!
Togbui Assiogbo Gnagblondjro III, chief voodoo priest of Togo says they will perform miracles all over the pitch!

That Chief Vodoo Priest already traveled to all German stadiums hosting games and performed ceremonies there. We had a lot of news coverage about that. The team of Togo was the first to arrive here, they came three weeks ago. Teams like Togo or Trinidad & Tobago are what really makes such a tournament interesting.

No, I never played soccer and I think it is very boring to watch.
