Will you now buy an extra ticket or go elsewhere?

I alone (with a girlfriend) will probably still come for my TinkerBell half Marathon weekender but as for my whole family (5 of us) I don't think we will come annually anymore. We usually stay 8 days/7 nights and I will NOT buy 3 day passes on top of 5 day passes, nor will I buy AP's for everyone for one trip.

So no, we won't buy an extra ticket. Very sad :(

For those not following the other thread, we now have confirmation that the 6-8 day passes were removed to curtail fraud.

They did submit that in writing, but it was only a short while ago (few days ago) that over the phone I was told that it was because the '6-day Park Hoppers were not selling well.' The Cast Member that had spoken to me had mentioned this to me after speaking with his Supervisor. It seems they are varying their reasons, and trying to find excuses.

Technically, if one out of every three 6-8 day park hoppers were being bought illegitimately, then they are not selling in the manner they intended, or "not selling well". i.e. "not selling well" could be a euphemism for fraud, as laid out more plainly in the link above.

We will be switching to an 11 month/13 month pattern and getting APs from now on. We liked having the longer trips, but usually ended up upgrading to AP's anyways and squeezing in an "extra" trip in late spring as well as our main trip in the fall.

With the prices having gone up and the longer tickets no longer available, we'll be taking 13 month breaks from having APs, plan 2 trips within 11 months of each other, then take a year off and repeat. On the years we have APs we may squeeze in an extra spring trip. On the other years, we will go elsewhere.

We're going to pay for an additional day over our 5 day hopper. The way I figure it, it breaks down to 65 a day for the 6 days. Would I pay 65 dollars to go to Disneyland on a random, miserable, cold day in Febuary? Yep. Might as well take advantage while I'm there.

Want to see a real shocker? Our last day we are going to Universal during the day and going to Halloween Horror Nights that evening. A Universal day pass and a VIP HHN pass (combined and discounted)....wait for it...wait for it....

$240 a person for one day at the park.

Paying full price ...
5 days of PH = $290, or $58.00 per day
6 days of PH = $290 + $125 = $415, or $69.17 per day

That is expensive. For comparison, a 1 day park hopper at DLR and a pass into Mickey's Halloween Party will cost you up to $125 + $69 = $194 + tax. And for that price, you get no front of the line privileges, guided tours, or lounge access like you do with a VIP HHN pass.

I find this thread very interesting, but perhaps it's because I've never been to DL. We are planning to go next summer and we're looking forward to it. I was planning on getting the So Cal pass which gets you just the 3 days at Disneyland, and honestly, I thought this would be enough time for us.

Or maybe it's just that we're so used to WDW where we can usually (drive) and stay Sun - thurs and use our (cheaper) DVC points during those days. Even then, we usually only go to the park every other day, taking days off in between to lounge around or go see the other resorts, shop etc. Personally, my dd and I like the days off, and DH would have it no other way.

So is DL really that different, and people want to go to the park EVERY day they are there? Am I wrong in thinking we'll enjoy a pool/shopping day in between to chill and relax?

thanks!

Part of the thing about DL and especially staying onsite is that the parks are right there and you can walk to them. Without any travel required other than a little walking it's very convenient to run into get something to eat and do a ride or two which is different from many, although not all, of the accommodations and parks at WDW. That may not make a difference to you though since it sounds like you do a very laid back Disney trip without a lot of park time at WDW.

That and you can't pool hop between hotels. I have loved our stays at the PPH, however, the pool is like any other pool I have been to. I should add, I'm not really a pool person too, we don't use our pool in the apartment I live at.

So for our vacations, its usually leisurely and relaxing. Sleep in late, hit one park, then back to the hotel to relax...then back to the park...
