I see the new cruises out of NY have a stop at WDW for a day. Do you think magic bands will be sent out for this one day park hopper? I know it's early, I was just curious on everyones thoughts.

Interesting question -- my guess is no for the MBs, but maybe I'll be proven wrong. The bigger question, though, is whether you'll receive ticket numbers to link to MDE? And will you be able to schedule FP+ at 60 days or 30 days, or only day-of? We'll have to see how it's handled...

This is kind of what I was wondering. If you only have one day, it would be awesome to plan fp+ ahead of time. It'd also be nice to charge stuff back to the cabin.

I would think the Magic Bands would be a big technical mess, but I could be wrong. It seems it would b much easier to just leave RFID cards in the staterooms just like Port Adventure tickets.

I honestly wouldn't expect charging privileges. The MBs (MDE really) actually charges to the resort room. I don't believe the "resorts" and the "cruise" systems can "talk" to each other :chat: to make that work, they are completely different systems. It would make sense to allow for 60 day FP+, with or without MBs (like Swan/Dolphin allows).

I really don't expect anything really, just more like wishes. If you don't get cards until on ship, then your probably can't book fp+ until that day with the app. That would be a bummer.

It would be a bummer. I hope people can get them before they go to the parks!!!! I love FP+!!!

On our 8 night Bahamian cruise, in 2013, with a stop at Disney we were not given Magic Bands-- we were all given "hard tickets".

To further this- we were asked to decide which park we wanted be dropped off at first and then Disney planned out who would be on which bus route at which time. It was GREAT fun!!
Hope this information helps!!

Thanks!! This is great info. How much park time did you have? Did you park hop? Did you get dropped off right in front of parks where WDW hotel guests get dropped off?

My only thought on your 2013 experience was that magic bands were in their infancy, so I wonder if it will change. As 1 day in park with no fp+ puts you at a disadvantage.

This is super interesting. How fun to have an actual stop during the cruise!! Hopefully you will get the 60 Day FP+. Interested to see how this shakes out.

Let's see... I think we arrived around 7-8 am at the port and we were off of the boat at about 8:30 to get on the buses to Disney. It was VERY organized!! We had from about 9 am to (I think) when the park closed- which was 11 pm or so. I KNOW it was late. We were dropped off right in front of the parks. We didn't park hop, but that's because we didn't want to. We were given that option. It was FANTASTIC and I recommend it to anyone and everyone!! Bummed they aren't offering Galveston that option anymore!!

Omg! That sounds awesome! I never thought that they'd give you until closing! I thought it would just be a little later port day! Could you leave beforehand & go back to ship if you wanted?

MagicBands are only provided to those with a WDW Resort Reservation and to Annual Passholders. Those just purchasing theme park admission (which would include the ticket included with the cruise) will not be issued MBs, but could purchase one (prices start at $12.95 plus tax).

Sounds amazing. I'm also curious about fast pass plus and how returning to the ship was organized.

I wouldn't expect to be able to make advance FP+ selections using the ticket provided on the cruise. DCL would need to provide every passenger their Ticket IDs which would then need to be linked to MDE in order to make advance FP+ selections.

Do they supply meal credits/vouchers during the time at parks? Could easily see needing to eat at least 2x if staying late

As with most shore excursions, meals are on you. You do have the option (albeit not the greatest in this situation) to eat onboard as the ship will continue to serve any guests who opt to remain onboard for part/all of the day.

Enjoy your cruise!

~ Yes, we could leave whenever we wanted to, as far as I know. The drive was about an hour back to the Port.

We didn't participate in FassPass on that day. I don't know why specifically- I know we were meeting family at the MK (who live in Florida) so maybe it was because we needed our schedule to be more flexible? I can't remember. Returning to the ship was similar to the way it was organized to go to the parks, but in the opposite direction. We were told that we had to be on the buses by a certain time to make it back to the Port- there was a cut off time- and I seriously want to say that it was parking closing. There were dedicated buses to the ports in the hotel bus slots- I THINK it was the very LAST slot too- lol. If memory serves me correctly, we didn't wait in line too long. These were the DCL and Magical Express buses. Both ran to the port that night.

I get what you're saying, but we will be on a Disney product, not staying at Best Western. Lol. It's just a hope. I have multiple magic bands, I don't need another.

I agree, it does sound amazing. Very cool to get the cruise & transport with a day to the park.

:confused3Or they could send a magic band......:rotfl2:

I'd assume no park meals will be included.

Thank you so much for sharing! Were they the cruise buses too?
