will you get kicked out of DL without Halloween tickets

I really feel for the CMs on nights such as these and grad nights. They truly are stuck between a rock and hard place. We were there on a day that was grad night...and they had signs and CMs directing the non grads.

How many tickets are sold for Halloween party dates?

I asked and they never gave a straight answer. Most of the dates sell out fairly quick.

I don't know if you directed this at me but you are WAY off base. Never once did I say that I was trying to sneak in any where for free or trying to get something for free and yes I can afford the tickets. My question was( I do believe other people understood it) I wanted to know what happens to the regular ticket holders when the park changes over to the party. I asked because we where there in 2002 and 2008 and it seamed to be different this time. Next time you say that you don't mean to be you rude you should try it

First, I was talking of all the posts through the years and I made it plain that I wasn't talk about you specifically. Your post did say you didn't plan to buy tickets and you wanted to know if you had to leave a private special event party if you didn't buy tickets.

Your post...

We will be at DL on 2 of the Halloween Party days but don't plan on buying tickets for the Halloween Party. Do you have to leave DL when the party starts?

I guess I'm reading your post the wrong way, but there has been two ways of dealing with non party guests. They have closed the park completely or they have checked wristbands. You, as a non paying guest would have to leave either way.

And I never said you couldn't afford it. People can be millionaires and have a vacation budget. The price is affordable to someone if they see the value in the product.

I LOVE the special event parties. We have gone to every type of party at WDW and DL...Christmas, Halloween, Pirate and Princess, etc. This topic comes up every year and there is always people who post ways to get around the system. That I find rude and offensive.

Why would you even ask this? It is commmon sense that if you don't have a ticket for something you can't be there.

The Halloween party tickets are cheaper than a 1-day ticket to the park. I can see why the OP was asking the question. If Knott's sells an 'after 4 PM' ticket at a discounted price, does it mean that all the people who paid for all-day admission have to leave? No. The Halloween party at Disneyland is not the same thing, and all non-ticket holders have to leave but I can see why the OP asked the question... She never implied that they were going to try to sneak in or anything, so I think we should not treat her as a criminal...

If you were there in the earlier years, they shut the rides down before the parks closed, swept the parks of day guests, set up and reopened for the party. Now, they do wrist bands, and the party guests can mingle during the day and at closing, they start check points to close the park to non-party guests.

I personally love the Trick or Treat Party. My kids (young adults) and I go most years. For us, it is worth the cost. One idea for those who might want to attend on vacation is buy 1 day less on your park hopper, then but the ToT ticket. You can enter the park at 3 or so, adn spend the rest of the day/evening in the park.

Actually, most dates still have tickets available on the event date. Usually, the AP discounted dates and Halloween itself sell out. Judging my the number of guests we have seen compared to capacity, I would guess they sell in the neighborhood of 25,000 tickets.

Do they save a certain number of tickets to sell on the day of? I mean, if you have Joe Vacationer there who doesn't do much research and finds his family there on a party day and wants to stay rather than get kicked out, they generally have some tickets reserved for sale so that they can do so?

i believe they have an amount to sell each day. I also think since they do the party+tour now 30days out. that they have those tickets (20 i think) for each party day for the tour guest.) I am not sure on this but it is some thing i will be asking next month when i call back .

i think i read some where that 20k tickets per party were sold not sure if thats true or not

I totally believe you but this did happen: :confused3

Last year my in-laws tried to buy tickets on 10/25/11 to the Mickey’s Halloween party that night and it was sold out? They were told only a small amount of tickets become available on the morning of the upcoming parties that where sold out, but don’t count on that many.

The party on Friday night 10/28/12 was also completely sold out as well, in addition no more would be available that morning.

Oh well I guess that's whats happens to people that wait!

This is what we are planning on doing! We typically get 3 day park hoppers but this year will be doing 2 day 1 park per day tix AND the halloween party tix. We plan on getting into the party as soon as we can, 3pm I've heard?, and this way we can still have our 3 days and not be spending too much over our budget.

And to the OP- I understood your question.;) I myself was wondering...what happens to all those who don't purchase tix. Since I've never been to a halloween party before, I was mainly asking because I wanted to know how the CM's handled this transition. And I thank everyone for all the info, very helpful!

But OP- I can also understand how some might misunderstand your question. And unfortunatly, when texting, emailing, posting etc...words come across very differently then if you were face to face asking the person directly. KWIM? It seems like maybe this is what happened with the other poster and your question?? I'm glad you asked the question though...I was wondering too!:thumbsup2

I have a quick question. DH and I planned our October trip and didn't take into account the Halloween party , oops ! So our first day is Oct. 5th. We do not have kids but love all things Disney and Halloween. Has anyone gone to this without kids and is it worth it to you ? Just looking for any opinions :)

We were at DL and did not buy the special party ticket for the last few years during Halloween parties.

Generally Halloween ticket people start coming in around 4p. We got FPs for rides going up until 7p when the party officially starts. You can get into a line (FP or standby) for an attraction until 6:59p, which we did (we picked Star Tours as our last ride for the night in DLR). After you come out from that ride you can't get on any more attractions. I believe they told us that we were welcome to shop for as long as we liked though (we weren't very interested in trick-or-treating or shopping), and after the last ride we headed for DCA but we did not get the feeling we were being 'kicked out', just that the rides were now for Halloween party ticket holders. I want to say we did take pictures with the giant Mickey pumpkin before leaving and the photopass people seemed find with it.

from what ive been told on phone at 5pm they started to slowly move ppl out of the park that didn't have the party tickets. If you don't buy one you don't get to shop eat ride see any of the special only for the party time stuff. I've been told some shops only sell some things at the party never at any other time.

At least how i see it, if im paying 55bucks to get the special treats others shouldn't.

call me a stick in the mud lol

This is really interesting....we've been to the WDW Halloween Party a few times and they are much stricter about remaining in the parks after the party has started. I think it was last year you couldn't even get a dining reservation after about 6pm unless you had party tickets. Beginning before 7 the CM's start to sweep the park from back to front, checking for wrist bands at walkways, checking bathrooms (many reports of people trying to hide their families in the restrooms to wait for the parade) and stores, etc. and ushering people out of the park. I don't know if it is true, but I've heard that they won't even let you exit the park 'on stage' after the party starts, but use the alternate crowd exit by taking you through the parking lot behind Main Street.

So interesting the different experiences people have had. We have done the party at DL the last two years. This past year I remember getting annoyed at how often I had to show my bracelet (with little kids who I had to help show theirs too). Kind of slowed down our normal movement. And I agree with the other posts: DL is crowded at Halloween time and much of what we are paying for is a fun atmosphere and shorter lines (free candy doesn't hurt). Now if they would bring in the Boo to You parade from WDW, we would be back year after year.

I have been to every single halloween party they have ever had except the very first one and the only reason was because at the time, I didnt know about the party...but because they let you in as early as 4 pm it does take them awhile to get all the non ticketed people out of the park...and although they do a really good job, trust me there are still people at the end of the night who are on Main St. watching fireworks and calvacade...once it gets dark, it gets harder to spot people and there are soooo many, theres no way for the CM's to see all the people...thing is that they cant go into stores or get photo ops, ride rides or get food so the only thing they can do is walk around and watch the fireworks and cavalcade...regardless, they are NOT going to impact your fun...the only people waiting in line with you for rides, photo ops, merchandise, or food will be other ticketed people...

This was our experience as well at WDW. I swear they had all the non-partygoers exited by 7:30. It was impressive.

From my experience DL will let non ticket holders stay until the very last minute where WDW starts winding down early. However, DL does a MUCH better job checking wristbands and getting people out of the park. We were pleasantly surprised when we attended the party last year. CMs actually had ropes they were using to block walkways and you had to show a wristband or leave. At WDW I've not seen those road blocks. Just CMs with signs asking nicely for those without wristbands to leave. It was cold so it was a pain to keep uncovering my wristband but it was very nice that they didn't let people stay all night. They even had CMs come by and look at wristbands while we were waiting for the fireworks. The crowds are just too huge to do that at WDW.

I am in no ways a wdw veteran but I will say that last christmas when I went to MVMCP, the only time they checked my bracelet was when I went in for photo ops and got on rides and even then they didnt check all the time on the rides, they didnt check for food or merchandise that I bought except when I got my tshirt at the emporium...but i went to a little store while waiting for the parade over in Liberty square and got a MVMCP pin and they didnt ask then either...when I mentioned it to my friend who lives 12 min. away from wdw she said there are always tons of non paying party people at the events because they dont have blockoffs on the road so they can get away with it....

i wonder if dl will ever start the christmas one lol

Jade I honestly will be surprised if they do...the 2 main things they offer to everyone is the parade and fireworks with snow on main st. and they have been doing this particular parade since my daughter was I think, 8??? and she is going to be 26 this year...

hey who knows, you could be right...but that would mean at some point, someone somewhere would be told "Im sorry, we are sold out for the day, please call back tomorrow and we can assist you":rotfl:...and as far as I know that has NEVER happened...

We were there last year and roads were definitely blocked off. They checked bands at the entrance to the lands from the hub.

We went without kids last year, and had a great time. It's the only time adults are allowed to be in costume in the park. The Halloween fireworks are AMAZING. There are special character appearances, and even the themed "dance parties" are quite a bit of fun. We went on a busy night so didn't see much in the way of a reduced crowd size, but there was a distinctly different energy with so many people in costume, and we enjoyed it.

I can only speak for the MNSSHP at WDW that I attended. They do check for wristbands. You can not go between lands/through the hub without one. They check for at least the first hour after the party starts. I'm sure it's easier to check in Oct. as the weather is still quite warm and most guests are wearing short sleaves. At the Christmas Party it would be a bit harder with more people wearing long sleaves.

I heard they check in the bathrooms also.

One year we happened to be at MK after attending a MNSSHP earlier in our trip and had on a wristband that was almost the same color. Nobody stopped us, however I was heading out of the park. We did make a short stop at First Aid so I could get my niece some ointment for her hives.

With the prices Disney charges for the parties, anyone without a wristband should be kicked out. It's only fair for the people who have paid for the extras. Tell a CM if you see someone without one. I know at WDW they announce it many many times that guests without tickets need to leave the park.

The party isn't just for kids. Where else can adults dress up and trick or treat? I've seen many couples in awesome costumes enjoying the party. Something I forgot to mention earlier is the character meets. There are lots of good opportunities. We enjoy Jack Sparrow and we love the characters in their costumes.

Yes they do usually sell out before the party starts. You said they sell out fairly quickly which is not true. In 2009 we went the night before Halloween and were able to get tickets a month in advance, and at that point only the first night was sold out. If you are waiting until the "day of", yes you are likely going to be disappointed.

And I thought you could only get kicked out of the land if you were not wearing any knickers! Well I never......

;)
