Will You Chill Out if I Sprinkle You With Pixie Dust? The End p136 *New TR Link* p138

UGH! I too was thinking one of the boys was going to be too tired and overwhelmed and have a breakdown. That was just absolute ridiculousness! Acting like Disney is some sort of conspiracy or something. I'm sorry you had to go through that. But very glad they got to the car without a problem.

On a nicer note, I just love your pictures of the queue. That wench on the other hand creeped me out! :rotfl:

I enjoyed the updates, MEK. So glad you got to a park and got your first ride on (oh, and love Columbia Harbor House).

Great photopass picture of the group upon arrivval.

Beautiful photos.

Great pictures of POTC!!! How neat!

I was for sure when you said there would be a meltdown that you meant one of your nephews...not your brother... :scared:

I sure do hope things turn around, the spat is resolved, and some people start to be a bit more positive! :thumbsup2

Ha! I have a similar set of PotC pictures. We'll have to compare when I finally get to that part of my TR. I used my nifty fifty lens, which is better in the dark but....no zoom. And I wasn't able to get Jack Sparrow at the end because we stopped short of it for some unloading issue a few boats ahead of us, and then when they started again they zipped us past Jack at lightning speed. Oops, I shouldn't have said "lightning" after your meltdown story. ;) :goodvibes Well, I hope the rest of the trip went better than your departure from MK that first night together.

Enjoying your report. Your pictures are fabulous!!
I'm really hoping some pixie dust gets dumped on your brother soon and you were able to enjoy your vacation. It is so hard going to Disney with skeptics. It's like they look for things to complain about!!!:confused3

Hmmn. I have all kinds of thoughts here and can't wait to see how this one plays out!

Even if you aren't a Disney hater, sometimes feeling out of your element, and completely not in control of what's going on around you can make anyone snap and of course, we take it out the most on those closest to us.

And really, it wouldn't be a trip without one Disney Meltdown. Major drag when it comes from one who should be setting an example for the kids but...it happens to all of us.

And in my family's case, it could be one meltdown per person. :rotfl:

I really enjoyed your POTC pics! :thumbsup2 I must try to get some on our next trip. For some reason, I never have my camera out on that ride. :confused3

UGH - the rain! But, at least y'all were in a dry spot for the downpour. I really like your random gift shop pictures. Sometimes, those can be the best pictures.

And I'm like you - I have a thing for light fixtures. And not just in Disney. I love light fixtures!

The dreaded meltdown! I had a bad feeling it was going to come from your brother. First of all, let me say that I think you were right to tell him that he should take his kids at least once to Disney. Even if he doesn't love it, they probably will & let them have the joy at least once in their young lives. As for his meltdown - WOW! I really don't know what to say. Do you think he was just overly tired from travelling? It just seems so silly to be so upset over it raining & his shoes getting wet & such. :confused3 But, I'm very glad that they made it back to their car so that it didn't create another "crisis". Hope that was the last meltdown of the trip! :goodvibes

Hi Mary Ellen. :wave2:

Great TR so far!

Good pictures of the Tree House Villa!

I have to say.....the melt down wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. :upsidedow

I hate it when you have something you love soo much that's out there for everyone to know about and it ends up being the target for those who want to go in for the kill, just to get at you.

This happens a lot with faith, It doesn't matter if it's family or a "friend,", that's the thing they always seem go for to try and get at you if there is some sort of tiff or falling out. :(

Of course now that they all know about Disney, they go for that as well. :worried:

Why is it our siblings can do that worse than anyone else? :confused3 In all the years I've had spats with my siblings that's one thing I won't do, I won't go in for the easy kill just to hurt them. :sad2:

 Hope the trip goes better from here on out.

By the way, I like your good attitude about it all. :thumbsup2

Hopefully the meltdown grumpiness didn't last for too much longer!!! Unfortunately, yes, Disney World does have weather! Hopefully the rain didn't last for too much of your trip!!!

At some point my brother starting lamenting that he was going to get his good new sneakers wet. I said, "why didn't you just buy a pair of Tevas like Jen did?".

Wait a minute! Was your brother on my trip, too? What is it with men and new sneakers?

Sorry to hear about the meltdown so early in your trip. It only gets better from here. Right?

For a minute there, with all of the lightning talk, well, I was a little scared for you all.

Phew!!! So glad that you heard from your SIL about the ferry/car. That would NOT have been a pleasant confrontation if they made it back to the resort without the car.

Fantastic report!!!

Oh, yeah, almost forgot. I really like your PoC pictures. I usually try to get a picture of the skeletons in the first scene with my little point and shoot, but it never ends well. I didn't even bother on this last trip. GREAT picture of Jack at the end.

Oh My!!! Family disagreements are the Pits !!!That is why I LOVE my Free Trips and Solo trips soooo much!!!

Meltdown number1 is out of the way.

Great pictures in pirates. I still struggle with here kitty kitty pirate.

BTW. I thought your storm was a result of TS Debby. Hence the Debby clouds.

Using the DIS app here but i don't see smilies. Hmmmm

You can just name that pirate Dave! :rotfl: Great shot!

I think men are just babies. I have traveled with my husband and an ex boyfriend (not at the same time. :rotfl:) and both can be such cry babies while traveling.

Catching up...

Magic Kingdom- Here We Come!

:cool1::banana::woohoo::hyper:

This was are one and only group shot of the trip. Glad I insisted on it when I did. My brother is in the orange and he IS smiling -at least he is smiling now.

My choice was the lobster roll. Why? I don't know. It was sort of an impulse choice.

Here's a picture and, honestly, it looks like a roll filled with mayo!

Blech. Did you get any lobster with your mayo? :crazy2:

I did not pay attention to what anyone else had. For dessert, I had the apple crisp. It was yummy and one of the better QS desserts in the parks.

I love these! The food court at POR had them as well, and they were fantastic served warm.

When the hanging scene in the stretching room was over my littlest nephew, CJ, looked straight at me and, in the most matter of fact voice, said, " I was scared". Not " I WAS scared", but "I was scared". In other words, he wanted to make sure that I knew the ride had the effect it was supposed to. I cracked up! It's one of my favorite lines of the trip. Love it!

I still have to convince my kids to get on this in a couple of weeks.

Up Next - Not one of my fav rides, but one that every first timer must ride - It's a Small World.

Is it any coincidence your brother was grumpy later on?

This is my favorite scene in the ride, probably because it means I am almost done listening to that annoying song

::yes:: :thumbsup2

When we entered the theatre we ended up in a row with people sitting smack in the middle of it and it was obvious they were not going to move. One of my nephews said to me "Let's just sit here", meaning right next to the them. I replied, "No, we are going to do the right thing and keep moving to the end of the row". Someone in the party heard me and made some type of mocking comment to me and proceeded to giggle. Obvious, that did not go over well, but I took the high road, ignored them, and just kept walking to the end of the row.

This is what crop-dusting is for. Be prepared next time. Stop in Adventureland for a burrito before getting here.

"Don't worry", I reassured everyone. "It always rains in Florida, but it never lasts long"

Famous Last Words!

Uh oh.

He told me that I had swallowed too much of the Disney koolaid and he tried bad mouthing the place I loved so dearly.

When you insult my family, you insult me. Or Disney World. That counts too.

It probably took 10 minutes to get on the ride, which wasn't bad considering the length of it.

Not bad at all! :thumbsup2

No flash here!

These came out great! :thumbsup2

We spent the next 30 minutes or so holed up in the dump shop. Parade time came and went and Wishes time was approaching. I doubted that Wishes would start on time, or at all.

So close to Aloha Isle, and yet so far.

Once outside my brother saw some distant lightning and made the comment, "You people all think you are safe just because you are in Disney World, but you're not". Oh brother - there was no sense in even responding to that comment.

Um...ok.

The only possible response is, "You may think this is water coming out of my nose, but it's snot."

This is where my brother loses it. He says "I am NOT standing in this line. I'm going back in the park". If he could have shot me with daggers, he would have. He looked at me with such hatred, as if by my own will I had caused the storm. He grabbed his two younger kids and turns to walk away.

Lines are for mere peasants.

fantastic pics on POTC! I especially love that close up of Jack from the gift shop:lovestruc

I didn't expect a meltdown from your brother this early in the trip! I am so happy that you let it slide off your back! I learned after 2 trips with friendsand their families that unless I'm with my sister (who you know I adore) I don't do Disney with anyone else. Just the thought of those 2 trips with 2 different sets of friends still sends chills down my spine! I have a feeling tho that your situation is going to be just fine:thumbsup2

Oh man, I had hoped that the problems with your brother wouldn't start so early in the trip. Girl, you dodged a bullet when they were able to take the ferry and didn't get on the bus. I was wondering how you were going to handle that little mixup.

Okay I have a bit of catching up to do...

Love the pic of the castle and the MK view.

Great group shot and love CHH! :thumbsup2

The lobster roll actually sounds quite yummy but it does look like there's a lot of mayo piled onto the sandwich.

Haha IASW...how that song can quickly get stuck in your head and not leave for ages!! :lmao:

Oh no on a storm brewing...:(

Yay on getting the hologram on POTC and all the other great pictures!

Oh no on the meltdown but am glad your brother and his family got to their car and you all made it back safely.

My brother and I didn't speak again that night. He was already in bed when I got back to the villa. Just as well because I didn't feel like another confrontation.

I used to say I'd love to get my family on a cruise... but they would be going on the Wonder and I'd be on the Magic!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Your Pirates pictures are great! Better than I could do!!

Thank you! That was the first time I have gotten any pictures to turn out in Pirates, so playing with the shutter speed really did the trick. Although, I noticed that got steadily worse as the ride went on. :rotfl:

Ugh, that rain sounds awful. I have a feeling nobody really felt 'safe' though. :confused3 I'm so glad that they were able to get on a ferry back to the car though!

It was your typical Florida downpour - the type you usually get in the afternoon. Having it come right before parade time was such a bummer. I am so relieved they caught the ferry back to the car. pixiedust:

Sorry your night didn't go as you wanted, but I hope the rest of the trip was better!

You know, I really wasn't upset about the rain. I was more unnerved by how upset it made my bro. I know he was exhausted from traveling and it just stressed him out a bit too much.

Oh man, I was expecting the meltdown to come from one of the kids.:confused3 Adult meltdowns are so much worse to deal with. I just can't handle going on vacation with people who you feel so responsible for their happiness because they are acting like you forced it on them.:crazy2:

In my brother's defense he was literally running on no sleep and this just tipped the scales for him. But, he was so angry with me when we got to the monorail that I just didn't know what to do. It was a bad way to end the otherwise good evening.

Hopefully the tension resolved itself after a good night's sleep. :goodvibes

There was one more argument between my brother and I, but for the rest of the time we were on good terms. :thumbsup2

UGH! I too was thinking one of the boys was going to be too tired and overwhelmed and have a breakdown. That was just absolute ridiculousness! Acting like Disney is some sort of conspiracy or something. I'm sorry you had to go through that. But very glad they got to the car without a problem.

Since you read my previous TR you know that my bro had some pretty bad notions of Disney. He really had some bad feelings towards a place he had never seen and this evening just fed right into it. I am going to blame it on the lack of sleep because his mood did improve later in the trip. :)

On a nicer note, I just love your pictures of the queue. That wench on the other hand creeped me out! :rotfl:

I think the queue pics turned out pretty cool too. Darn wench. Why couldn't she strike a better pose? :rotfl2:

I enjoyed the updates, MEK. So glad you got to a park and got your first ride on (oh, and love Columbia Harbor House).

Thanks Kathy. I know its hard for you to keep up right now, so I appreciate you dropping by.

Great photopass picture of the group upon arrivval.

Thanks - I love it! I'm going to frame that one! :goodvibes

Beautiful photos.

Thank you!

Great pictures of POTC!!! How neat!

Thank you! I am slowly learning how to use my camera and I'm glad I finally got some pics to turn out in there. It's about time!

I was for sure when you said there would be a meltdown that you meant one of your nephews...not your brother... :scared:

My nephews were actually pretty well behaved and they had no major meltdowns. It was pretty much limited to my bro and I. He just wasn't loving me this trip.

I sure do hope things turn around, the spat is resolved, and some people start to be a bit more positive! :thumbsup2

I will say this - each day gets progressively better, but stick around and you'll see how and why. :)

I can't wait to see your pics! Ugh to not being able to photograph Jack. You were probably waiting all patiently and the next thing you know your boat takes off like a bat out of h*!!. :rotfl:

Oops, I shouldn't have said "lightning" after your meltdown story. ;) :goodvibes Well, I hope the rest of the trip went better than your departure from MK that first night together.

I think this meltdown was probably the worst, although there is another one later on in the week. There are a few other misadventures as well.

Since you read my previous TR you know that my bro had some pretty bad notions of Disney. He really had some bad feelings towards a place he had never seen and this evening just fed right into it. I am going to blame it on the lack of sleep because his mood did improve later in the trip. :)

Oh I definitely remember, but I wasn't expecting him get mad at things that are totally out of anyone's control but God's. People that get mad at the weather confuse me to no end, even if they are tired. I'll try not to be too hard on him though.

I'm so glad his mood improved. I'll be very curious how he feels about Disney now that he's been there. No worries, I will wait patiently until the end of the TR to find out.
