Will You Chill Out if I Sprinkle You With Pixie Dust? The End p136 *New TR Link* p138

Oh boy...that's certainly a meltdown story. :scared: The worst part about it, in my opinion, was that split second when you realized the car situation and also figured out that it was out of your hands. It's like watching something bad that's about to happen and being unable to stop it. :worried:

Thank the Lord for the ferry, though! Was relieved to see that you didn't have to stress about the car for very long.

Love your Pirate pictures! Brought me right back to the ride and reminded me how much I love it. :goodvibes

I can understand your boredom in the gift shop. You can only look at those plastic swords and Jack Sparrow caps for so long!

I hope you and your brother were able to make up and enjoy the holiday together. Momma and I always have rows from time to time on holidays but usually a few hours later we've forgotten it and can enjoy the time together.

Loved your shots of POTC! My DH remarked that Johnny Depp must have been surprised his contract made him sit in the ride!:rotfl They did cange some of the auction spiel to be politically correct. No more commenting on beauty when selling women!:confused3

Your brother must have really been tired especially after riding the train to blow up over something you couldn't control. He also went into it with a negative attitude, but things like that usually change for the better.

My BFF hates WDW, but felt she should take her children. Kids deserve at least one shot at Disney.pixiedust:

Enjoying your report. Your pictures are fabulous!!

:welcome: Mousketeer. So glad you are enjoying the pictures. I love taking pictures. It's a pain to carry that camera around, but worth it in the end. :goodvibes

I'm really hoping some pixie dust gets dumped on your brother soon and you were able to enjoy your vacation. It is so hard going to Disney with skeptics. It's like they look for things to complain about!!!:confused3

You know - I don't want to give away the ending, but let's just say that pixie dust was involved. :goodvibes

Hmmn. I have all kinds of thoughts here and can't wait to see how this one plays out!

Hint - It has a surprise ending. :goodvibes

Even if you aren't a Disney hater, sometimes feeling out of your element, and completely not in control of what's going on around you can make anyone snap and of course, we take it out the most on those closest to us.

That is so true. Perfect insight. I do think my brother felt out of control. I actually think traveling is hard for him and he didn't sleep well. Too many things all at once and that rain and long line tipped the scale for him.

And really, it wouldn't be a trip without one Disney Meltdown. Major drag when it comes from one who should be setting an example for the kids but...it happens to all of us.

And in my family's case, it could be one meltdown per person. :rotfl:

:rotfl2: In our case it's always one meltdown per person. Well, maybe not Denny because he's too calm to melt, but I could feel myself at the melting point after we had been there a week.

I really enjoyed your POTC pics! :thumbsup2 I must try to get some on our next trip. For some reason, I never have my camera out on that ride. :confused3

Thanks! That is one of those rides where you would rather experience it then take pictures, but I just had to try. I really wanted to get the wenches! That's my favorite scene.

IUGH - the rain! But, at least y'all were in a dry spot for the downpour. I really like your random gift shop pictures. Sometimes, those can be the best pictures.

I agree - sometimes the most obscure detail can make a great picture.

I actually think we were pretty lucky to be under shelter when the rain hit. It would NOT have been fun to get caught in that deluge.

IAnd I'm like you - I have a thing for light fixtures. And not just in Disney. I love light fixtures!

There was a DISer named LL who rarely comes on the boards anymore that had a light fixture fixation and it really sparked my interest. Ever since her pictures I find myself taking pics of tons of light fixtures. When you think about all the different ones in Disney its pretty mind blowing.

IThe dreaded meltdown! I had a bad feeling it was going to come from your brother. First of all, let me say that I think you were right to tell him that he should take his kids at least once to Disney. Even if he doesn't love it, they probably will & let them have the joy at least once in their young lives. As for his meltdown - WOW! I really don't know what to say. Do you think he was just overly tired from travelling? It just seems so silly to be so upset over it raining & his shoes getting wet & such. :confused3 But, I'm very glad that they made it back to their car so that it didn't create another "crisis". Hope that was the last meltdown of the trip! :goodvibes

Thanks for the support. I felt bad after I pushed him (nudged him sounds better) into taking the trip. I just wanted his kids to see it once.

I do think he was overly tired from traveling. You hit the nail on the head. And the rain and the lengthy line to get home just overwhelmed him.

It wasn't the last meltdown, but it was probably the worst or at least the one where I was most uncomfortable.

Hi Mary Ellen. :wave2:

Great TR so far!

Good pictures of the Tree House Villa!

Thanks! So glad you are enjoying it!

I have to say.....the melt down wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. :upsidedow

After I wrote about it, it didn't seem quite as bad to me either. I think that I was just SO worried about whether my brother was going to have a good time that all the incident felt worse than it was.

I hate it when you have something you love soo much that's out there for everyone to know about and it ends up being the target for those who want to go in for the kill, just to get at you.

This happens a lot with faith, It doesn't matter if it's family or a "friend,", that's the thing they always seem go for to try and get at you if there is some sort of tiff or falling out. :(
Unfortunately, that can happen in life. Disney really is a weakness for me and it does hurt when someone puts you down for loving it. And you're right - if someone knows any of your weaknesses they can go after them just to be vindictive. :worried:

Of course now that they all know about Disney, they go for that as well. :worried:
Why is it our siblings can do that worse than anyone else? :confused3 In all the years I've had spats with my siblings that's one thing I won't do, I won't go in for the easy kill just to hurt them. :sad2:

I think our siblings have seen us at our worse and our best and they know all the trigger points. That's really great that you are able to take the high road like that. I haven't always done that and it gives me something to think about.

 Hope the trip goes better from here on out.

It really does. Overall, it was a great trip with a few more ups and downs.

By the way, I like your good attitude about it all. :thumbsup2

Thanks. I knew this trip might be rocky, so I was determined to stay positive while my brother's family was there.

I don't know if I am going to get to all the replies tonight. I want to try to get a quick run in before it gets completely dark out. Will I make it???? :rotfl:

Isn't it funny that even as adults we can make our siblings crazy (or in this case, have them make us crazy!!). I love my sister but we are soooo.... different - I am the ultimate optimist and she is a total pessimist and sometimes (ok, a lot of the time) she makes me want to scream when we're together! :rotfl:

Fantastic pictures!!!! Great update. It was too bad your brother had a rough day. Sounds like the rest of the trip picked up from here.

Can't wait to hear more!

I'm reading along... I'm so glad to read a report of someone who stayed at the treehouses... I've always wanted to see what they looked like!
Thanks!:flower3:

Hope you got that runin. I need to get out int he AM. I think this crazy heat finally broke so tomorow moring should be good weather wise, run wise... not so sure. :lmao:

Yay! We made it into a park!CHH is one place I have yet to eat, and I'm not sure I ever will haha! There's just so many good choices in MK!

Gotta love the texting on the caroseul pic! Hahha, good one!!

Based on what you've shared I'm sure it was really overwhelming for him and he may even have "wanted" it to go badly, to prove he was right about it not being something he'd enjoy. People are funny that way and given how he fought it I'd imagine he was a bit of a powder keg at the beginning and one little thing can really tip anyone over the edge.

I love pixie dust and what it can do pixiedust:

Can I just ask why do people care about new shoes getting wet? I've bought new shoes and worn them in the snow the very next day. I don't really care if they are new as I figure I'm going to be wearing them in the rain or in the snow at some point why not break them in right now.

Also sometimes people seem to just get in the way when it rains at WDW, on my last trip to WDW in 2009 it was raining one day and I wanted to head to the gorilla trail after getting off the safri, and I had to fight my way through people sating in the entrence way wearing ponchos and holding umbrellas undercover, I just don't get it why take shelter if you have a poncho on?

Sorry about the rant.

Hopefully the meltdown grumpiness didn't last for too much longer!!! Unfortunately, yes, Disney World does have weather! Hopefully the rain didn't last for too much of your trip!!!

We actually had excellent weather this trip and it was the first and last time that weather actually got in the way of what we wanted to do. It was just unfortunate that it happened the first night when everyone was tired from traveling.

The grumpiness did go away....and then......returned! :rotfl:

Wait a minute! Was your brother on my trip, too? What is it with men and new sneakers?

:rotfl2: I have to admit, I really don't like getting my running shoes wet or dirty for the first time, but all other shoes are fair game! :rotfl: Probably because my running shoes are usually more expensive than my regular shoes. Sad!

Sorry to hear about the meltdown so early in your trip. It only gets better from here. Right?

It does. There are a few more meltdowns and moments, but the overall direction is one of improvement! :thumbsup2

For a minute there, with all of the lightning talk, well, I was a little scared for you all.

I really wasn't worried about that, but I know my brother was and that made me nervous. :crazy2:

Phew!!! So glad that you heard from your SIL about the ferry/car. That would NOT have been a pleasant confrontation if they made it back to the resort without the car.

I was REALLY worried about that and I couldn't believe I lost my "thoughts" to the point where I encouraged them to make that mistake. So, essentially, the meltdown could have been an implosion. :rotfl:

Fantastic report!!!

Thank you! That's a huge compliment!

Oh, yeah, almost forgot. I really like your PoC pictures. I usually try to get a picture of the skeletons in the first scene with my little point and shoot, but it never ends well. I didn't even bother on this last trip. GREAT picture of Jack at the end.

Thanks! I had a lot of fun with those pics and I was pretty happy to have Jack turn out so well. I love that scene at the end. Denny wanted to know where all his jewelry went.

Oh My!!! Family disagreements are the Pits !!!That is why I LOVE my Free Trips and Solo trips soooo much!!!

I have to agree with you there Rosie! Family trips (with extended family) are definitely the most difficult. My fav trips are when its just DH and I or a girls trip - Cynthia is an awesome roomie! :goodvibes

Sorry again for being so slow with the replies. I have a student today at work so I don't think I'll be DISing too much. ;) But I'll be back later tonight!

How dare you make it rain on your brother's trip! You are one powerful woman... you can even create thunder & lightning! :thumbsup2

I think you made a great choice to ride out the rain! Pirates is always fun, and at least it is one of the more interesting gift shops, with lots of cool things to look at (and play with! :rotfl: )

I'm sorry your brother was having such a tough evening, I hope that it gets better after a good nights sleep!

Sorry about the rant.

I can tell you about the shoes for me.....I have horrid feet. it's really hard to find shoes that fit and don't cause blisters. I have wide, large fat/flat feet...and I usually buy mens shoes to get them wide enough. :rolleyes2 So basically for comfy shoes I don't have many pairs that fit and I can walk in all day and not be crying by the end of it. When shoes get wet, they stretch and reform and my feet slide around in them and I get blisters...so for me. I don't want to buy another pair of $70 plus shoes. And I would never find a pair that works for me on Disney property. I also can't do flip flops. I can't even stand up with those because of the thing between my toes. I have no problem walking in the rain with a poncho...but if the water is flooding around.....then I'm not going to walk through it and ruin my shoes.

Good grief, I go on vacation for a week and come back and I'm 12 pages behind over here, you are waaaay too popular missy! ;)

All caught up on your updates. The treehouse villa looks perfect for a large group! But I would have been a little unnerved taking a shower with so many people in the house and no locks on the doors too :scared:

Your lobster roll looks nothing like the yummy one I just had in Key West last week! Did I post a picture of that on FB? I can't remember...... Anyway, yours really did look like a mayo sandwich with a bit of lobster thrown in for good measure

So sorry that your brother was being so mean to you about things that you had no control over. Sounded like a man who was forced into a vacation that he didn't really want to take and he was determined to focus on the negative :(

Meltdown number1 is out of the way.

Yes, yes it is! :thumbsup2

Great pictures in pirates. I still struggle with here kitty kitty pirate.

Thanks! It was funny when I was taking that pic because my lens kept focusing in, then focusing out, in, out, then finally - picture!

BTW. I thought your storm was a result of TS Debby. Hence the Debby clouds.

Right - I think that storm came in right after we left. Thank goodness we missed that. :faint:

Using the DIS app here but i don't see smilies. Hmmmm

The smilies are different everyday - they all seem to be out of order. What's up with that? But I do like this one :wave2:

You can just name that pirate Dave! :rotfl: Great shot!

:rotfl2: Thanks!

I think men are just babies. I have traveled with my husband and an ex boyfriend (not at the same time. :rotfl:) and both can be such cry babies while traveling.

If it had been at the same time that would certainly make for an interesting TR. I have to agree that some men can be big babies - on vacation and at home. :rotfl:

Catching up...

:cool1::banana::woohoo::hyper:

I was so happy to finally get to MK that evening!!!!!

Blech. Did you get any lobster with your mayo? :crazy2:

:rotfl: A little :rotfl: Surprisingly it was pretty tasty.

I love these! The food court at POR had them as well, and they were fantastic served warm.

OMG - aren't they good? Such a yummy dessert! I wish I could have put some vanilla ice cream on it.

I still have to convince my kids to get on this in a couple of weeks.

They better go on it! I bet they love the interactive queue.

Is it any coincidence your brother was grumpy later on?

IASW has been known to have the effect on some people. :rotfl:

I'm glad we agree!

This is what crop-dusting is for. Be prepared next time. Stop in Adventureland for a burrito before getting here.

crop dusting? OMG! :lmao: I've had the urge to step on their toes but I have to say that the idea of crop dusting never crossed my mind - until now!

I totally jinxed myself, that's for sure.

When you insult my family, you insult me. Or Disney World. That counts too.

Do NOT mess with my Disney World!

Not bad at all! :thumbsup2

These came out great! :thumbsup2

Thank you! :goodvibes

So close to Aloha Isle, and yet so far.

I know. Maybe a Dole whip would have cheered up my brother!

Um...ok.

The only possible response is, "You may think this is water coming out of my nose, but it's snot."

:rotfl: You are on a roll tonight Mark!

Lines are for mere peasants.

For which I am one. That line really did look overwhelming for a newby or an oldie like me.

fantastic pics on POTC! I especially love that close up of Jack from the gift shop:lovestruc

Thanks! I like that picture of Jack, too! I think it was probably a poster, but it turned out pretty cool.

I didn't expect a meltdown from your brother this early in the trip! I am so happy that you let it slide off your back! I learned after 2 trips with friendsand their families that unless I'm with my sister (who you know I adore) I don't do Disney with anyone else. Just the thought of those 2 trips with 2 different sets of friends still sends chills down my spine! I have a feeling tho that your situation is going to be just fine:thumbsup2

It was a little soon for the first meltdown and I don't think it would have happened if it hadn't rained. Oh well. You're right - it is hard to travel with Disney with some other people because when you loved disney you just want to be with people who feel the same way. Plus, its easy for little things to get on your nerves when you are used to touring a certain way.
