Will We Wait The Full 48 Hours?

Since Saddam has insisted that he will not accept the offer of exile do you think that we will wait the full 48 hours to attack Iraq or will we try to attack before then especially if we see indications that they are preparing to use WMD (chemical/biological weapons) and/or are sabotaging oil wells?

I heard that the quesiton was put to President Bush and he said Saddam has until 8:00pmEST (?) Wednesday. But, if they start doing something, who knows.

I think Saddam will do something before the deadline....either to us or Israel.

There was discussion on this on CNN earlier - the response wasn't clear. But then again Bush did say last night at a time of our choosing. Tonight is a full moon - anyone seen the weather forecast for Baghdad? Clear wouldn't be good all week - cloudy would help our fly boys.

From another news source I read earlier today, a huge duststorm is expected today or tonight but the day after should be clear.

My feeling is if the US doesn't wait the full 48 hours, Saddam can/will use that against us. He can always say he was going to leave (yeah, right, whatever ) before the end of the 48 hours but we "attacked" his country before he could leave. Can't you just hear the raving lunatic now?

Of course, if Iraq's troops were to do something stupid...

I thought I heared that it would take the 48 hours to evacuate the UN and diplimatic personel. I am sure that all of them will be given time to leave. Some news person (CNN?) also was talking about giving thier troops time to leave the country if they do not want to stay and fight for Iraq. If that is true then it will be 48hours.

At this point it looks like a moot question. According to all of the news reports so far today we are poised on the border - ready to move on 12 hours or less notice. So at this point we wouldn't cross the border until after 8 pm tonight in any event.

Weather is iffy - too clear and with the full moon we may hold off given the air strike that would likely be part of the first assault.

However at 8:01 ET the skyline of Bagdad will likely look very different.

I would agree with that based on the latest info I've heard. Now let's hope it clouds up.

Have loved ones who will likely be in those planes and would much rather they have a little cloud cover than a clear sky with a full moon.
