Will we spend too much time waiting?

We're staying at ASMu on this next visit. We are going to be meeting someone at MGM and then going on to MK. We had planned to take the bus to each stop, but would we be better off driving our own vehicle? Since we're only going to be at MGM for maybe 30 minutes and then heading to MK, I don't want to waste alot of time waiting for another bus to arrive. We've never used the bus system before, and I wasn't sure how much time it's going to take up.

When is your trip? I imagine it would make a difference WHEN you are going- because a busier time would mean more time to get from place to place (because buses being full/etc.)

In any case, I stayed at ASMu on my last trip and in my experience traveling to/from the parks and from one park to another was not very time consuming at all.... sometimes quite fast in fact. The only time I had long "rides" was if I was going to another resort (which means going to another park and then to a resort or to DTD and then a resort) and sometimes to DTD took awhile (or back to resort from there- buses kept being full). But from that resort to parks or park-to-park was quite fast.

I did go in January though.... I imagine a peak period would mean longer times to get from place to place due to more people there travelling by WDW transportation?

Oops! Yes, I guess it does make a BIG difference when we're going. We will be there the first week in December, so we're not expecting a big crowd. We've never stayed on sight before, so the bus system is new to me. I guess what I'm trying to figure out is how often a bus comes around, like, are we going to be standing on the sidewalk at MGM forever waiting for a bus to get to MK? If we do drive our car, do we get free parking as a resort guest?

It could be quicker taking the bus. There is no bus that goes directly from MGM to the MK. I'd recommend you take a bus from MGM to either the Poly or GF and take the monorail from there to the MK.

Taking a car would require waiting for the tram in the parking lot of MGM both from your car to the park and back to the car. Then you'd need to drive to the TTC parking lot, take a tram to the TTC and then hop the monorail or a boat to the MK.

Getting back to your resort is easy; just hop on the bus outside the MK main entrance for a direct trip.

Actually, going to one of the resorts could potentially take longer. During the morning hours, the resort buses do not usually go from Theme park to Resort. (Upstream, as we call it) It can sometimes take a bit before we can get a bus available to go upstream. Also, the Resort Monorail can be notoriously slow during the morning hours.

Your best bet is to take the bus to the Studios. Do whatever you need to do there. Then go to bus stop #11 -- TTC. That bus runs on a fixed route, in 14 minute intervals. At the TTC, hop on board the MK Express Monorail. This will be your best plan of action.

(If you choose to drive, you'd still have to go to the TTC... plus you'd have to bother with the Studios tram, and the TTC tram, and all that other stuff)

Thanks for the tips! If the buses are running that often, it doesn't sound like we will have too much to worry about. :D
