Will we regret not renting a car?

We were able to rent a compact car for our 7 day stay in December thru Alamo for only $85.00 for the whole week thanks to the codes I found on the transportation board.
We've always rented a car and used it for resort dining reservations and a few trips outside "the world" for grocery items and some shopping. I'll get my money's worth for $85.00.

After a long day at a theme park, the last thing I want to do is cram into a bus with 50 of my closest strangers and stand all the way back to my hotel.
I have not been able to see the benefit of NOT having a car.

My family went to disney early this year Jan/2007. We didn't rent a car since we spent that 5 days in the parks and no where else. By staying in the Disney Resorts, they had buses for the parks. I think the bus is quite ok, although doesn't come that often and is quite crowed at park closing. If you have elderly in the family I recommend a car or else they might have to stand on the buses esp. during after park closing time. We spent the entire day at the park so didn't really miss not having a car. However, if we had one, I think we might travel a bit off site say to Kennedy Space center etc. It's would definitely be more flexible.

I would NEVER take a car to Disney! I have heard several people complain about the buses at Disney but we have never once had a problem with them! I think a lot of people think it's going to be like taking the DME bus though and don't realize that it's not limosine quality bus service. If you can live with that then you won't be disappointed. We find the buses and monorail to be very convenient and have never had trouble getting from one place to another.

No personal experience here, but after all that I have read I do not believe I would stay at WL without a car. Maybe you should rename your thread. "WL without a car?" or something of the like. I would get WL into the thread title to get firsthand accounts from guests who have stayed there. I have read countless reports about questionable bus service from WL. I believe all of their buses are shared with CR, Poly, GF, or FW. It is pretty unpredicable which resorts it will share any particular route with.

Good luck!

Its a matter of personal preference and budget. We have transferred to the resort using Mears (they run Disney Magical Express too), Limo and rental car. Non-rental car options (limo/bus/shuttle from airport) move at a group pace and are much slower than a rental car option...especially if you have an express set-up with a rental car agency. We also found when you rent a car you can leave llater to get to the airport. The other options have you departing way in advance. We enjoy having a rental car, since it provides a lot of freedom to do things and do them in a short period of time.

If you value time and the ability to go now or go there a rental car is a real plus. If you are on a tight budget and are only visiting one resort at Disney with no other Florida attractions involved this decision not to rent a car becomes a possible solution.

DH and I love the convenience of having our vehicle should we decide to run somewhere without the hassle of transferring busses. For us, this is the only way to go.

Decisions, decisions.:lmao:

At first, I thought we had the right idea to NOT rent one. Now, I'm second guessing. I think I'll have DH read these posts.;)

For those who've asked, we'll be there Jan 19-26.:)
