will we really be able to bring a 7mo old to wdw?

We received quite a few books for shower gifts and started reading them to DD when she was about 2 weeks old. Some of them are picture books but we would talk about the pictures on the pages. A great one for babies this young is called "Black on White". It has a large black image on each page with a white background. Babies at this age love the contrast of dark or bright colors against a solid background. We were also given a series of small books that DD still loves to read. Below is a picture of DD holding one at 4 months. By 6 months old, she was turning the pages herself and babbling as if she were reading. She still loves these books and now she's points to many of the pictures and tell us what they are!

Op- I just came back from WDW and my lo is 7 1/2 months old. I am a first time mom and believe me it will get easier. I remember feeling the same way and I too had problems nursing. Some tips
1. bring your own stroller and take it with you whereever you can.
2. utilize the baby care centers. They were awesome. I would take her in there and feed her and give her baby food and let her play.
3. if the baby has a moment (which he will) dont get upset if other people stare at you.
4. my lo loved the rides and characters but was a little afraid of the fireworks.

by the time you go in January the weather wont be really hot and your little one will be sitting up and eating jarred food and some table food. You will have a great time. Dont forget to let him see the Light parade at the Magic Kingdom.

Number 2 is a great tip! We used the baby care centers for the first time this year as our first trips with our daughter she was already 4. They are truly a hidden treasure! What a great place to be able to go, sit, relax, feed, nurse etc. etc.

Our 6 year old enjoyed it too, especially the A/C during the middle of June!

I hear your pain! I have an almost 10month old who has had severe reflux, milk intolerance (gave it up while nursing), and then had ear infections starting at 3 months. It was VERY hard the first 6 months. He didn't sleep through the night until 7 1/2 months (unlike DD who did it every night by 12 weeks).

We turned the corner with this one by 7 months (and he is an extreme case!) I think he would have been fine to take the trip at 8months, we have our first trip to WDW planned for his birthday in Oct. A celebration that we made it through 12 months with this little monster :)

Keep your chin up, it will get much much better! Let that trip to Disney be what you think about when you are having a tough day :)

Congratulatoins!

The first six weeks are by far THE hardest...even for a 'pro' like me!:lmao: It gets easier, I promise you! Just take it day by day. Sleep when he sleeps. Don't worry about the household chores, they can always be done later.

As for taking a 7 month old to Disney. YES you can do it, and YES you should do it! We took our last one when he was 5 months old and again at 9 months. Having gone to Disney at least once a year since 2005 and having 4 kids...5 months old was the EASIEST trip by far! All he did was take a bottle, need a change here and there and sleep in the carriage when he wasn't people watching! It was great and I would do it again in a second!

Enjoy your new addition and enjoy his first WDW trip!!

Have faith. You can do it, trust me. DS had his first visit at 9 mos, DD was only 3 mos (yes, I was nursing through the parks, too), then I was 8 months preggers with DS#3 (with 2 kids under 5). Proof positive that it can be done. Just plan on not having a schedule and taking that afternoon break and make sure you have a stroller with a fan (yes, you might still need it in January). We are under 30 days till our 15th trip (DS/14's 9th) with 4 kids now. Just wait till yours gets older....:rotfl:

It will get better - it really will - I promise. With my twins my DS was great but DD had colic, ear infections, reflux and pneumonia. I remember thinking that if it doesn't get better I don't know what I'm going to do and then at 3.5 months it went away - not over night but within a week or so and then I had the sweetest baby (except when she had ear infections and that went away with the first set of tubes). Took both of them at 20 months - that was the hardest trip we ever took.

DD#2 and DD#3 had some issues but nothing like #1.

7 months should be a great time - can't walk but can see and interact. Characters may scare her and she'll need to figure out how to nap but we tool #3 at 9 months and it was great - took her again at 18 months and that was much harder. Going this trip with #4 at 18 months but we know what to expect so we have one parent dedicated to #4 and the other parent responsible for 1, 2 and 3 :dance3:.

Go and have fun - take lots of pictures because she'll never remember - the trips for you not her - take your time - take a mid-day break - the parade may be something she really likes (all of mine liked them at that age).

Hope this helps.
